KITTO BIOGRAPHY 2010

Kitto takes the very best of grunge and indie rock, smacks them up, and then adds a voice you’ll never forget! She brings a provocative intensity to every performance that always takes the audience by storm. The Australian rock performer/songwriter has toured in more than 36 countries around the globe, from the North Pole to Tasmania, Robben Island to Tahiti, and the scope of her music mirrors that world of travel. From heavy rock anthems to haunting acoustic ballads, her original songs such as indie-favored "Girl who said no" and interpretations of classics such as Aerosmith's “Dream On” evoke emotions from loss and sorrow to the sheer joy of being alive.

Having shared the festival bills with artists as varied as Bon Jovi, Megadeath, Debra Harry & Simple Minds, Kitto toured the UK and Sweden as lead vocalist for Janis Joplin’s original band, Big Brother and the Holding Company, in 2006. She performed at the Edinburgh Festival in 2007 and, in a personal highlight, performed on Robben Island in South Africa, where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for 18 years. She has also toured Russia, leading music outreach sessions for children with disabilities.

During 2010, Kitto will appear at music festivals across the Nordic region, France, Switzerland, the Baltic States, Scotland and Australia. As well as returning to Norwegian Arctic island of Svalbard in May with Swedish rock outfit Sator, she and guitarist PNA Andersson will perform at Sweden Rock Festival SE and Reiu Rock in Estonia in June and also support Pete Doherty of Babyshambles at Les Enfants Du Rock in Nice, France in July, as well as indie queen Pernilla Andersson at Sweden’s Helge Å festival in August. Kitto will also feature guitar legend Jerry Donahue (Fairport Convention) at Fasching in Stockholm this September. In March 2011, Kitto will headline at the Pacific Rock Festival in Tahiti, French Polynesia.

While in Scotland this spring, Kitto will film a video for her new single “I Am All I Met.” In the fall she returns to Sweden to record a new album entitled "CRASH" with Scarecrow Music and Sound Pollution, and film a rock video with Ulf Magnusson and Ali McDonald from Punky Monkey Films. Kitto's single and video "Maryrose" is currently making its way up the charts in France, and another single, "Collision Course", is due out in the French territories later in the year. She is currently signing a deal with 5 Street, a Finnish online games company, to include several of her songs in its dance programmes to be launched in Europe later this year.

Kitto's latest release was the 2009 EP Unlearn Your Generation - WJM 112 (WJM, Sound Pollution) with producer Chips Kiesbye (Millencolin, Hellacopters ). Her third album, 2007’s Over Sensitive, featured musicians including Slash's Snakepit bassist Johnny Griparic and Suicidal Tendencies guitarist Dean Pleasants and was produced by Michael Vail Blum in Los Angeles. Earlier albums include Precious Junk (2004) and Princess Of Tragedy (2002).

Australia’s Beat Magazine gets it spot on: “Only the immense, poetic beauty of Kitto’s lyrics can match her strong vocals. This is an artist with veracity, talent and a spirit that shines with intensity.”
