Kylie's decision to record the track was based solely on hearing (and liking) this exact recording you are listening to now!

She fell in love with it when first played it by Parlophone A&R & kept the vocal style when she later went into the studio with Kish Mauve who kept the same backing track.

Kylie's own vocal (recorded later) was done on two separate visits to the studio (originally intended to be one).

On the first visit she successfully recorded the chorus (that made her final version).

On the second visit she successfully recorded the verses, the verses were then edited together with the chorus to make her final version.

(She made a recording of the verses during her first studio visit, but they were NOT used as her diction was too precise and so she returned days later to re-record the verses in the deliberately "lazy" breathy vocal style of the official released version you already know).
