Ray Terry is becoming a high-quality brand name in Cleveland. Whatever project the former Allergic to Whores/ Nightbreed frontman has cooking on his front burner, it's usually outstanding. Kill the Fall is no different. The power trio's latest demo represents the most eclectic and adventurous project of Terry's career. Ripping through the post-hardcore and horror-punk of Terry's previous outfits, Kill the Fall also explores new terrain.

With some fresh blood -- drummer Dustin Hamilton and bassist Chris Wheeler -- the hellbent singer enters stoner-metal territory on the mid-tempo "Confidential." "Paper Thin," in contrast, is a total surprise: a fun garage punk shout-along with a Whores-style breakdown that's more sinister than the GOP's agenda. "Knee Deep in Deception" starts out sludgy and has an epic, Nightbreed-like buildup. Matt Gorey Scene

KILL THE FALL:

The Waiting Process: CD

A former Allergic To Whores dude takes the hardcore template in which he so blissfully basked in while in that aforementioned band and tosses in a heaping helping of stoner rock (which is essentially Sabbath-inspired metal smooshed with hardcore anyway, right?) to add a little heft to his already heavy endeavors. The songs are just what you’d expect: heavy, sludgy, and surprisingly catchy. Yeah, I’m diggin’ this. –Jimmy Alvarado (Tragic End)

"I'm a sucker for DANZIG, especially if you mix that up with rocking FU MANCHU/KYUSS jams which is pretty much what I'm hearing from KILL THE FALL, but these guys still show their punk rock chops so we're not totally spinning into the stoner rock stratosphere. Their half fucking rocks." Maximum Rock n Roll

Kill the Fall/Hellephant -Preying on Giants CD

These bands both play heavy mid-tempo punk, with trudging slow bass lines and occasionally metallic lead guitar licks. Both bands feature aggressive screamed vocals, and compliment one another nicely. It's definitely a solid split recommended for fans of the heavier strains of hardcore. (AE) PUNK PLANET
