Kicker, from London, recorded five singles (all on the CD 'fivefortyfives') and an album, 'Our Wild Mercury Years' for the Track and Field Organisation record label, between 1999 and 2005. Their sound was described as Stereolab meets Northern Soul, but they preferred to be thought of as a good old fashioned girl/boy beat pop group. They played with Comet Gain, Tompaulin, The Tyde, The Trash Can Sinatras, The Clientele, Essex Green, The Aisler Set, The Projects, The Ladybug Transistor, Saloon, Camera Obscura, and Dressy Bessy, who all borrowed equipment off of them. Their records were played by Steve Lamacq and John Peel amongst others, but they never got in the NME. They featured folks who had been/are in various other groups (18th Day of May, The Projects, Comet Gain, Hood, Harper Lee, Velocette, The Soft City and more to come). They loved having a laugh and ceaselessy failed to evr be trendy. If you arrived after 9 pm, you probably missed them. Bon nuit and wait for the comeback!!
