Kiara is a singer/songwriter from the small group of islands in the Caribbean, the Bahamas and is currently based in Houston, TX.
Kiara started singing at the age of 6 and has given her time and talents to many charitable organizations. At age 9 she became a member of the Bahamas National Children's Choir and performed with them for 4 years. At age 16 she became a member of the Bahamas National Youth Choir and performed with them for 5 years until joining a band as a lead vocalist. As a member of these organizations Kiara performed locally (Bahamas) and internationally in the US, Scotland, Canada, France, Finland, and China as a cultural ambassadress for her country, singing in over 7 different languages. In addition she has performed for Presidents, Prime Ministers and Governor Generals.
Kiara's friendly disposition and talents have also played a part in her capturing not one but two beauty queen titles, Miss Teen Bahamas 2000 and Miss Bahamas Universe 2009. This Caribbean queen is certainly not all beauty but is also a fierce competitor. At age 19, she decided to take the bold step and entered "VH1's Born to Diva" singing competition which was being held in Miami, Florida (a production of Tommy Mattola). Her boldness paid off and she successfully made the top 5.
Kiara has been featured on many Bahamian artist's albums and has toured in the US as a background vocalist. After gaining added exposure, she joined the Xtra Band and recorded two smash hit songs with them – "Private Dancer" and the remake of the T-Connection's 80's smash, "Best Of My Love". Both tunes still receive tremendous airplay on local radio and at parties.
Kiara is a versatile artist and has sung various genres including R&B, Folk, Jazz, and Ragga Soca. Even without a record of her own, she has been able to perform as opening act for numerous artists including Fantasia, India Arie, reggae superstars, Beres Hammond, Taurus Riley, Capleton, Red Rat, Buju Banton, Morgan Heritage and Beenie Man.
Kiara was inspired and encouraged into singing by her mother and grandmother. Even though her grandmother has passed, she is still an inspiration in Kiara's life. Kiara is a strong believer that anything is possible and that music is a way of expressing her feelings, thoughts and who she is.
"It's a good feeling knowing that I am able to touch someone's life. We all have a role to play in this cycle we live in, I just hope that through my music, I am able to make an even greater impact, " Kiara.
Currently Kiara is the lead vocalist for a Houston based acoustic band, the TruHearts.
