Kevimean has been in the works for almost a decade. The roots stem from Ryan Putman, Kevimean's eclectic bass player, meeting up with the, percussionist/singer, Jason Burt. Jason had played the drums previously in metal bands. Ryan had played in some experimental bands with Jason's younger brother Kevin. Reluctantly, Jason joined the band along with another newcomer, Paul Sifuentes (lead guitar) and Brad Apadoca (guitar/vocals). After fumbling through NIN, Cure, Dig, and Marilyn Manson covers for awhile, they started generating original ideas. The chemistry began to take shape! But, after a bad showing at their school's talent show audition because of controversial lyrics, tension began to grow within the group. Brad left soon after. This left Jason, Paul, and Ryan to hours of instrumental jam sessions. Concentrating on only the music helped them hone their individual identities, musically. The group tried to recruit singers from around the school campus and through friends, to no avail. This led to a long lapse for all involved. All the members split up forming separate band that all opened for each other and jammed here and there. Paul Sifuentes would later be killed in a tragic car accident after a party at a nearby lake. Jason and Ryan later started a band called Ask Leroy. They included Jesse Brede (guitar) and Billy Harvey (drums). In this band Jason was only a vocalist and Ryan began to do much more back-up vocals. This band played at various parks, bars, and coffee shops around Amarillo and Canyon Texas. Half the band moved to Austin (Jesse and Ryan). Billy moved to Dallas to go to music school. And, Jason moved to Columbus Ohio to pursue a band with an old friend.

Well, as fate would have it, Ryan and Jason would return home to Amarillo and cross paths once again. After jamming, just bass and drums for weeks, they decided to put together a new band. Jason sang with a band a short time, before he moved off to Ohio with guitar player Stephen Galan. Stevens musical creations frequently appeared on the top ten list in web sites like Artist Launch. After a few jam sessions it clicked. Over the next year Kevimean recorded endlessly on Jason's computer. They auditioned singers a few times, but the singer's never worked. The trio decided to take on the singing responsibilities themselves. All they need was a name. After countless ideas, Kevimean was thrown into the mix. Kevimean was a hybrid of the tranquilizer Ketamine and Kevin (Jasons brother and Ryans original drummer who passed away in 1997). The lyrics started flowing and the song ideas have been free flowing. The band has countless parties and live shows under their belt. The future is wide open and that's just how Kevimean will flourish!
