Pianist Kelly Powers has performed with the Cab Calloway Orchestra, the Artie Shaw Orchestra, Steve Davis, Nat Reeves, Jack Jeffers and the New York Classics, George Gee Swing Orchestra and Travis Sullivan's Bjorkestra among others. Her playing has been showcased in numerous New York City venues including the Smoke Jazz Club, Cleopatra's Needle, Kitano, Zinc Bar, Makor, Swing 46, Minton's Playhouse, Big Apple Jazz, Bruno Jamais, Caf? Vivaldi, Rockwood Music Hall, Crash Mansion and Night and Day.
Ms. Powers graduated from the Manhattan School of Music Masters Degree in jazz studies program in 2006, where she studied with Garry Dial, Cecil Bridgewater and Dave Leibman. Upon graduation, her debut CD (which is available on CD Baby) was released with sidemen Matt Aronoff, Kendrick Scott and special guest Samir Zarif. This CD features arrangements of jazz standards and two original compositions entitled "I Saw you in my Dream" and "International Outlook."
Originally from Walpole, Massachusetts, Ms. Powers began studying music at the age of four. In 2000, she moved to Hartford, Connecticut where she earned her Bachelor of Music from the Hartt School of Music, University of Hartford 2004. In 2002, Ms. Powers studied a semester abroad in London, England at Middlesex University. During her time overseas, she traveled and performed with various bands throughout Germany, Spain, Italy and Holland.



Ms. Powers has taught jazz improvisation and piano at summer camps at the Artist Collective (Hartford, CT) and Montclair Music Camp (Montclair, NJ). She currently has a sizeable roster of private students, and has appeared in educational concerts for children at the Jazz at Lincoln Center Webop Program. She teaches jazz piano lessons at the Brooklyn Conservatory (Brooklyn, NY) and the Stella Music School (Ramsey, NJ).
