Dwayne James, the gifted producer/composer was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on November 22, 1982. Dwayne is the oldest child and only son of Ann Marie Jobity of Trinidad. As a single mother Ann Marie struggled financially to make a home for her children but times were hard and the family found themselves moving from place to place across the country before they finally settled in South Florida in 1997. Dwayne started to exhibit his phenomenal talent very early on. His mother said that Dwayne learned to dance before he took his first steps. At age 12, he was rapping and composing music on a miniature Yamaha keyboard that he taught himself to play by ear. His mother, always his biggest fan used her limited resources to purchase the MTV Generator Music Creation software for his Playstation game system. Dwayne was soon producing beats and music for himself and his friends. They created their own unique brand of hip hop in bedrooms, bathrooms and warehouses. Music completely changed Dwayne’s life. He stopped running the streets and became totally dedicated to pursuing his dream of writing, producing and performing hip hop. The major influences that molded his diverse rhythms and rhymes are Michael Jackson, The Isley Brothers, Sting, Take 6, Fred Hammond, Jay Z, and Tupac, although he loves all styles of music, from hip hop to jazz to classical. Dwayne was one of the original artists signed by Stax of Cash Records LLC, the record label that was started by Ramon Robinson, aka Absoloot, Ramon’s father Carl W. Robinson in June of 2005. Stax of Cash was a believer in Dwayne James from the first recording and things have only gotten better from there. This is a talent to be watched that will change the face of hip hop and silence those critics who claim there is no creativity or innovation in rap.
