INTRODUCING an emcee that breaks the boundaries of the streets and the underground, doesnt buy into the industry standard of rap bullsh*t, and remains real by simply being himself. Tired of looking for the magic label to sign me that all rappers seek, I struck out independently, battling, dropping albums and doing shows as a way to create a name for myself. So that I wouldnt be a gimmick. So that I would have the state, the streets, and the underground behind me. So that my music can speak for itself.
Kaze (pronounced Kah-Zee) co-created and produced the nationally syndicated show Hip-Hop Nation in 2001.
His March 2003 debut release, Spirit of 94 is a tribute to legendary rappers like Big and Nas who released pivotal albums in 1994, along with Wu-Tang, Snoop, Outkast, Mobb Deep, Common, Gangstarr and Jeru the Damaja.
After selling thousands of copies on the streets and through small stores, Spirit of 94 was picked up by BCD Global Distribution in October of 2003 for placement into Transworld operated record stores such as FYE.
The mixtape follow up, Enemy of the State featured the single Move Over with Nature, and production from 9th Wonder.
After taking North Carolina by storm, 9th Wonder gave the album a remix treatment Spirit of 94 Version 9.0 picked up in 2005 by Brick Records and Handcuts Records in Japan.
2 NUMBER 1 Singles on College Radio, 50/50 Amp in July 2005. Last Laugh b/w Blood Thicker Than Oil in May 2006.
Runner up at 2004 Rocksteady Emcee Challenge, Scribble Jam performance 2006, and 5x MC battle champion.
Record sales for the original Spirit of 94, Enemy of the State, and the Version 9.0 have moved over 10,000 CDs and vinyl worldwide.
Opened for The Clipse, Method Man, GZA, Common, G-Unit, Little Brother, KRS-One, Dead Prez, Camp Lo and many more.
Kazes new album Block 2the Basement will shatter the boundary between the streets and the underground, recreating a lost genre called hip-hop.
