After taking a year’s hiatus from recording, to successfully promote his debut album “Look No Further” in Japan, KNK Entertainment / Sony Music Publishing recording artist Kay B is back in the studio working on his second album, which is duly titled “Better Than Before”.
Following up on the success from commercial crossover tracks off the look no further album such as Cheater’s Dilemma and Groove Thang, which held the no.1 spot on the international artists ringtone chart in Japan, and went on further to be listed on various compilations albums including two massive Sony BMG compilation albums for 2009, (“WITH YOU” and “PERFECT R&B 2”) which both featured artists like Justin Timberlake, Chris Brown, Jennifer Hudson, Akon, Usher, Beyonce, Leona Lewis, Lil Wayne and R.kelly but to name a few; Now, his second outfit, “Better Than Before” promises to embrace the sounds of modern day commercial sound as well as the soulful R&B ballads on Look No Further, such as the sensual album title track “Look No Further”, “Impress You” , “Don’t You Walk Away”, Cheater’s Dilemma” and the infectious Youtube phenomenal soul jam classic, “Call Cupid” which held the No.1 spot on UK MTV Base charts for 3 consecutive weeks .
With Look No Further debuting as the No.1 selling album, in the first week of release (Tower Records, Japan), before going on to sell over 20,000 cds and 45,000 mp3s within the first 6 months of its release; (a highly impressive achievement for an international independent artist), Kay B states that, “topping the success of Look No Further is an exciting challenge I’m looking forward to with this new album. On this new album I aim to reach out to an even wider audience and broaden my fan base by showcasing a versatile side of me whilst incorporating the previous styles that my fans identify me by.” The success of Look No Further coupled with a high demand for Kay B’s music and ringtones, led to him being approached by Sony Music Publishing, which eventually saw him secure his first ever publishing deal with them.
Currently writing and recording with a mercury nominated producer, alongside the Look No Further co- writer “seanKuaye”, Kay B is putting the finishing touches to his 2nd studio album. The music industry and his fans are already excited about his current collaboration with up and coming UK r&b singer Tez-Lee on an infectious club banger titled “Push It Back”, which is being played on various radio stations including BBC 1xtra, Kiss, Choice FM and many other radio stations around the world. It has received rave reviews from DJs and fans alike on Youtube, Facebook, Myspace and in club land. It will not be long until Kay B returns to the stage as he did previously, performing to sold out venues alongside the likes of Ne-Yo, Chris Brown, Bobby V. Valentino, Jagged Edge, Tinchy Stryder , Sway and a host of other UK acts.
Better Than Before is being scheduled for release on Kay B’s independent label KNK ENTERTAINMENT.
