Dear Diary,
So here I am, another day that I am thankful for, yet frustrated from the rollercoaster motion of dreams and ideas racing around my head that I just can't seem to live fast enough. Inspired by so many around me- Just left the camp games night blown away once again by inspiration and good times; I'm so grateful to be working with Jai Amore and have a mentor like Zalon Thompson.
Daily, I have this urge to unleash this vivacious, foxy persona that ignites me as I dream big, live, love and laugh even harder. The contained excitement from the potential of my projects is oozing from my smile when I wake up every morning and flows right into the songs that I write for people to hear.
And so I sit here and reflect with the biggest grin on my face, mischievous and patiently waiting for the time to explode like the finest bottle of champagne. I have an infatuation to succeed and profess my dreams and reminisce of just when it all began.
From Primary-School days, at the age of ten, when I dreamed of bringing my songs to life, through to the brief adolescent fame, singing with my two girls live on Nickelodeon TV, the most popular children's television channel of its time. Happy to be on air again, singing backing vocals for Marvin, who has since shot to stardom with his group JLS.
This small taste of stardom was enough to leave me searching for more and so there I was, singing to myself quietly so no-one could hear, and keeping a book of all my songs only I would read. Meeting 112 and Faith Evans, and so many other celebrities as well as seeing acts like Destiny's Child in the flesh only made my desires burn stronger as their talents left me speechless in pure admiration.
I remember throughout High-School, winning titles for best group at competitions each year. In and out of school practising, singing in the mirror, pretending to be in the videos of my idols Brandy, Whitney, and SWV, I was grooming myself into a skilful song-writer, singer, and performer. The passing years of attempted group projects and opportunities brought with them the realisation that my dreams could only be fulfilled if I embarked on this journey alone and so I- Kai became solo.
Never have I looked back- each event I have been thankful for the lessons each would bring. Now, from once working at Billboard magazine and dreams of being on the cover when I conquer, living in the same part of West London that Jay Sean once lived and managed to spring from, I am growing and striving with a burning desire. If he can make it, I'm right there behind him and having submitted my material for approval of new artists like Livvi Franc, I'm going to keep on writing.
So, to the many great people around me, to the ones I have crossed paths with and to the ones I am yet to meet, I know am destined for greatness. Now I have grown into a sassy, vivacious, soloist with the emotion of a woman, feistiness of a teen, and fun loving heart of a wild child, my lyrics penned from the heart and playful mind makes my music unique. Sung smoothly over authentic RnB tracks with a spoonful of quirky pop and a blend of sophistication, I am ready to play the game, to entertain you and share all with those who want to share with me.
The dramatic pattern, of male dominance on the UK RnB scene is about to be broken by the appearance of a fresh new emotion, provided by a sexy, independent female. I ask you to listen closely, as the clichés of the past are also forgotten, hushed by the smooth, sensual sensations evoked the voice, lyrics, and charisma.
