In a day and time where hip hop lacks individuality, and careers of successful artist are often attempted to be mimiced all the way down to their ad-libs. there is Kae-9. A rap artist from Landover, Maryland (which is in P.G. County) but was originally born in Washington, DC. Due to his families musical background he was drawn to music at a very young age. He loved every form of music. Kae-9 began writting and rapping as nothing more but a hobby. Around the time of middle school is when things started to take a turn in Kae-9's life due to family differences, trouble, continuosly moving, and other situations. He found music to be one of his escapes and a way to occupy himself as well as try to stay out of trouble and has turned to it ever since. Around the time of high school, he actually started to record music simply as a hobby. It was only until people started giving him recognition for it and telling him he should actually take it seriously that he got into it heavy. "Rapping was just something I enjoyed to do and it was a way for me to vent, but after a while i just wanted to get better and master it and when i started to do that i got good responses from it". Writing about his experiences, his enviornment, personal opinions, and situations he has witnessed, He bare's a certain Charisma, swagger, voice, and gear shifting flow that is very different and distinct. " My top emcees got to be Pac, Jay-z, and Nas" he says. "As for the old school hip hop era, i gotta go with NWA, Big daddy kane, Ice Cube, Ice T, Dr. Dre, Rakim, Public Enemy. actually it's way to many people for me to name cause thats the golden era. the old school, That's what everyone trys to emulate. you know. take a couple lines from here and there. cause that was real music". Often called an old soul because of how he carries himself and the knowledge he has aquired over the years from always hanging with the older crowd, Kae plans to share this knowledge through his music. Today, After minor set backs and forks in the road Kae-9 is still pushing and ready to make an impact as well as deliver good music to his people, representing for PG, DC & the whole metropolitan area introducing himself to the world!
