"The Kadalack Boyz are back," writes Mr. Collipark to his loyal Myspace audience. The announcement comes a couple weeks after his decision to officially begin new production on their upcoming project. Although the members, Tex James, Skinny P, Sphidaman, J Luke, and Tok, are celebrating their current affiliation to Collipark Music, they are truly commemorating a reunion. For Collipark fans, last year marked a dry spell for the group as rumors of the label releasing them buzzed amongst industry heads. "I have always believed in the talent of the group [Kadalack Boyz].they just needed some time to regroup and refocus," says Mr. Collipark.
Tex James, the leader of the squad, vividly paints a picture of the group’s founding moments in Macon, GA. “We all knew each other through affiliation, we were the leaders…the Dons,” he explains, “It started out attending parties, throwing parties, and finally performing at parties.” The story leads to veteran disc jockey, DJ D Roc, who facilitated in the group’s early recording career. “We had a buzz on local radio with the first song ‘Ahh Boom!’… It was an instant hit,” James says. The buzz followed all the way to the hustle and bustle of Atlanta, GA, home to one of the south’s legendary super-producers. “Mr. Collipark heard our records and the rest is history.” This history includes a brief delay in what seemed to be a hiatus after the release of “Never Slippin,” an Atlanta radio supported single. Sphidaman, known for his catch phrases and high-energy antics, explains the dry spell. “It was just a little delay. We never stopped,” he says. J Luke, the calm and laid-back component to Kadalack’s structure, agrees that the second time around will be different. “We learned more and we’re going forward. We make more concrete decisions and our relationship with the label [Collipark] is much deeper.”
Along with the changing dynamics of the members, imaging, and current goals, the group remains optimistic of its future. Skinny, the unpredictable quiet storm, is paradoxically the predictor of success. “There is no other act out like us. Everything we do, say, even wear is our own. Kadalack is more than music…it’s the way we live.” Sphidaman sums it up to perfection. “We’re the most humble group on this planet. We’re patient and we stick together. We still here.”
