-------------------------------BIO----------------------------
Nigerian born singer songwriter Ka-Chi cites philosopher Abraham Maslow's writing on Self Actualization when describing the theme of his music; evidence of his deep thinking nature which is obvious in his songwriting.
Ka-Chi's journey through life has seen him living in three continents, drawing material for his art from a wealth of cultural mixes and experiences. Music came at an early age, first as a listener from as far back as a toddler, then as a songwriter in pre teenage years when his parents brought home an electronic keyboard. The early musical influences ranged in style, genre, and geography from Bob Marley whose music was heavily felt in Africa during his youth, to lyrical songwriters Cat Stevens, Bob Dylan, and indigenous artists such as the late Afrobeat King Fela Kuti and Onyeka Onwenu.
As fate would have it, in 2004 while living and working in the Baltimore-DC corridor of USA's Mid-Atlantic region, music came around full circle and returned in the form of an acoustic guitar. Ka-Chi began putting his songwriting skills to work again, this time with a new instrument. His first recording, a 5 song EP titled "Soul Liberty-demos sessions" featured the critically acclaimed single, (Give my) Soul Liberty; a song that captures his theme. This debut EP was self produced and released in 2006.
The musical journey led to a growing list of eclectic songs with a signature soulful folk-pop/world/reggae flavor. Lyrical dexterity is the underlying strength and he has the ability to tell stories and deliver messages over entertaining rhythms and with a heartfelt sincerity. Through his music, Ka-Chi shares experiences both real and fictional, personal or from an onlooker's perspective, and sometimes controversial, but the direction is always positive and inspirational.
Following the release of his debut, Ka-Chi performed extensively in the Mid-Atlantic area with appearances at World Cafe Live and other notable venues in Philadelphia, New York, Baltimore Maryland, New Jersey and Virginia before embarking on a 10 state tour that took him through the mid-west and out to the Western shores of California.
October 2008 saw the release of the much anticipated sophomore album "Come on Home". This new project encompasses his experiences touring around the country over the last two years since his debut recording. In the first few weeks of release, the album climbed to Number 2 on CMJ member stations New World Music charts. Ka-Chi relocated to the San Francisco Bay area in 2009 and continues to perform and spread his music and message of Soul Liberty to his new neighbors; A musical vibration of freedom, love, and truth.

"Nigerian born troubadour Ka-Chi's guitar work is solid…"The feeling that I'm feeling is just so amazing" is sweet… His bright multi-tracked guitar fills the spaces between his words with warmth and spirit" - East Bay Express review of the album Come on Home.
"Ka-Chi sounds like the voice of a one-man revolution that is willing and able to spark a change for good, whether it be socially or in your way of thinking. It is as smart as anything else undiscovered you will hear for some time His music reflects how real his ideals are, and how honest of a person he is.Plain and simple, this is music that begs to be heard; so do it. " Brian Campbell, www.DCathome.com

"With just a guitar and his rich, soulful vocals, the Baltimore based and Nigerian born Ka-Chi has released a very impressive debut consisting of 5 tunes that often walk the line with a sound reminiscent of the acoustic sides of Bob Marley and Ben Harper (the last cut on the disc is a great cover of Marley's "Redemption Song"). With a delivery that's very confident and laid-back, Soul Liberty - demo sessions shows that he is just as impressive lyrically as he is musically with lyrics dealing with subjects like life, relationships and taking control of your destiny. With a demo this good I can't wait to hear what Ka-Chi has in store for us next "
Geoff Melton, The Music Korner

"Ka-Chi's song "(Give my) Soul Liberty" entertains, soothes and inspires. He implores you to take control of your future and steer your destiny to the direction you want." .www.naijajams.com

"(Give my) Soul Liberty" is one of the best songs by an indie artist that I've heard in a really long time (and I hear a LOT of indie music).
