Junior Clarke began drumming at an early age in church. He will tell you, that was his formal training ground or shall I say where his groove and feel evolved. Junior is a versatile drummer, playing styles from gospel (urban, southern) jazz, reggae, calypso, blues, country and what ever genre falls between. He has great ability to interpret what the artist’s needs to hear or feel in a particular song or groove. Junior has developed a playing style that is in demand from many artists. And because of that over the years he has played on numerous recordings, played for many bands locally as well in the Toronto area: such as Gospel Flames, Chosen Generation, Uof T mass choir, Faith Choral, Jacob Moon, Jellestone, Fergus Marsh, Grammy Winners Jesse Dixon and the late Ron Winans and Dana Davis and former lead singer of Fred Hammond and FRC AGe (Adrian) Smith. Junior has also had the privilege to share the stage with such major artists as Hezekiah Walker, Karen Clarke, Shirley Caesar, Fred Hammond, K-os, FeFe Dobson, Jacksoul, Bare Naked Ladies, Jully Black, Kardinal Official, Jaguar Wright, Shawn Desmond, Ray Robinson, Maestro Fresh, and many others.
Junior has toured across Canada and the U.S. with various artists. He is currently holding down the groove for Canadian Soul/R&B sensation, Gold recording artist, UMA, RMA winner and Juno Nominee DIVINE BROWN. While with Divine they were the opening act for the multi-platinum artist BRYAN ADAMS major Canadian tour. Hitting cities as Toronto, Montreal, Quebec City, Ottawa to name a few and venues as the Air Canada Centre, Forum, Coral Centre and others.
Because of this God given gift, he’s always looking for ways to take his playing to the next level.
