Think of it as putting on that fly new outfit to go out in; or, pulling up to the club in a new car. That's the idea you need to think when you hear the name JUMPSHIVE.

JumpShive was fomed in 1997, with members of The Stooges Music Group having a need to extend their musical palettes. "We were one of the hottest brass bands in the city," says Walter "Whoadie" Ramsey."But we started to feel that there was a void in our careers. We had so many ideas that went beyond that scope, and yet we didn't want to anything that wasn't in line with the tradition of brass band music. Problem was, we were starting to hear our hip-hop influences."

And through that exploration, JumpShive became into existence. "We would often play Outkast, Jadakiss, Juvenile, and many others in the brass band", says Drew "Da Phessah" Baham. "Problem was, there was only a certain way that you could play it, being that it was in the venacular of New Orleans culture music. We wanted to do hard-core, in your face, bumpin' hip-hop."

JumpShive has many accolades to their name; They've scored music for the likes if ESPN's Sportscenter, Championship themes, and NBA broadcasts. They've traveled to various places around the world:France, Spain, Italy, Japan, China, and countless others.
