Clementine is a project led by singer songwriter Julie Hardy. The band features piano, glockenspiel and ukulele—unusual instrumentation through which she channels the Beatles, Feist, Ingrid Michaelson, and St. Vincent. Hardy was a featured artist in the Resident Noise series in July of 2010 and performed a sold out show at the 92Y in Tribeca.
As a singer who wears many hats, she can also be heard singing jazz, jingles; most recently for Fanta, or backing up a rock band on piano.
Hardy is an award winning composer having received the 2006 Young Composers ASCAP award for her composition “No Turning Back” and the Cannes Lion Grand Prize for “One of Those Days”; a jingle written and produced in collaboration with director Elena Shpak for Nokia.
Julie has two jazz records under her belt "A Moment's Glance" Fresh Sound New Talent (2005) and "The Wish" World Culture Music (2007) and both have received glowing reviews by the top publications in jazz including Downbeat, New York Times, Jazz Times, Time Out New York and All About Jazz. In her 7 years living in New York she has performed all the top jazz venues including Jazz at Lincoln Center, Jazz Standard, Birdland, Blue Note, and the Jazz Gallery with some of New York's top jazz musicians.
She is currently on the core faculty at New School University and is adjunct lecturer at City College of New York. She has given jazz clinics at various colleges across the country and internationally. She is a certified Somatic Voicework™ instructor and vocal producer.
