ENGLISH ----- Juglans Regia is a musical project which was born at the beginning of 1992 by the idea of Massimiliano (bass), Alessandro (vocals) and David (drums). During the years a lot of guitar-players and keyboard-players turned around the three original foundators: in particular, among them, have to be mentioned the actual guitarrist Antonello, who has always taken part in the band except for a long break between 1993 and 1996.
In the beginning the band was called Raising Fear and played a classical heavy metal in the vein of NWOBHM bands, as showed in the first demotape The last gate (demotape -1993).
Suddenly, with choosing of singing also in Italian, the bands name changed and became Juglans Regia, the latin form for Walnut Tree. Choosing a neutral language wasnt so casual, but connected to the fact that some songs were written in English and others in Italian.
During the years, but almost always with different line-up, the band has recorded various demotapes and selfproduced CD: Juglans Regia (demotape - 1995), Il sogno (demotape - 1997), Sinusoide/Grigio (demotape - 1999), "Prisma" (CD - 2002), "Controluce" (CD - 2005) and the recent "Visioni parallele", out in February 2008. Actually Juglans Regia plays a sort of heavy rock with a touch of prog.
ITALIANO ------ Juglans Regia è un progetto musicale che ha preso forma nei primi mesi del 1992 per iniziativa di Massimiliano (basso), Alessandro (voce) e David (batteria) e che ha visto avvicendarsi nel corso degli anni, attorno ai tre fondatori, vari tastieristi e chitarristi. Tra questi va menzionato l’attuale chitarrista Antonello che, in pratica, ha sempre fatto parte del gruppo seppur con una lunga pausa (inizio 1993 – fine 1996).
Inizialmente il gruppo si chiamava Raising Fear e proponeva sonorità influenzate prevalentemente dall’Heavy Metal inglese dei primi anni ’80 (indicativo a tal proposito il demotape “The last gate”, uscito nell’aprile ’93).
Successivamente, in concomitanza con la scelta di cantare “anche” in italiano, il nome del gruppo fu mutato in Juglans Regia, dal latino “noce reale”; fu scelto un nome latino in quanto lingua “neutra”, visto che alcuni brani erano in inglese ed altri in italiano.
Con la denominazione Juglans Regia, ma quasi sempre con formazioni diverse, il gruppo ha registrato negli anni tre demotapes e tre CD autoprodotti: “Juglans Regia” (demotape – 1995), “Il sogno” (demotape – 1997), “Sinusoide/Grigio” (demotape – 1999), “Prisma” (CD – 2002), “Controluce” (CD – 2005) e "Visioni parallele", disponibile da febbraio 2008. Quest'ultimo esce in collaborazione con l'etichetta AKOM Productions, che si occuperà di promozione e distribuzione. Nel disco figurano come ospiti Riccardo Iacono, che suona le tastiere in un paio di brani, e Gianni Nepi, storica voce dei grandi Dark Quarterer, che canta in "I colori nell'aria".
Attualmente il suono del gruppo potrebbe essere descritto più o meno come heavy-rock-metal con un tocco di prog.
La volontà del gruppo è sempre (stata) quella di ricercare un suono quantomeno personale.
