Born and raised in Malta, a tiny,island in the Mediterranean sea, music was a very important part of Josie Day's upbringing. She grew up listening to the likes of Madonna,Michael Jackson, Cindy Lauper and at a very young age,even though she couldn't understand the lyrics as English wasn't her primary language,she would make up her own words to be able to sing along. Her dream of one day becoming a professional singer was always in the back of her mind but being that no one from Malta never really made it big in the music industry it didn't seem so realistic.
But the more time passed the more she realised that she did not want to restrict her passion for singing to an amateurish hobby. After taking vocal lessons and participating in a number of contests, she collaborated with Buggly B, a local rapper who included her in his album. It was during this time that her songwriting skills were also put to the test as she was finally able to record her own original music. Their singles 'Waste of Time' and 'Love Letter' got considerable radio play.
In 2003, Josie took the big leap, and moved to the U.S. to change her life and pursue a singing career.She has since worked with a number of bands, including 'Rising Star' and 'Salsa Steel'. She has performed at Harrah's Casino,Viejas Casino and Humphrey's by the bay in San Diego among others.
Josie Day's sound today is influenced by artists such as Kelly Clarkson, Beyonce, Pink ,Christina Aguilera and No Doubt. It is a mixture of different genres that harmoniously come together with Josie's ability to reach for the sky with her wide range and high powerful notes.
Josie is currently the lead singer of San Diego based band Danger Angel.
