Born in Rio de Janeiro in 1978.
Jorge Bezerra begans percussions playing with Candomblé’s tambors, in afro-brazilian religious ceremonies.
He’s getting his first professional contract in 1993 with afro-music band “LEMY AYO” were he was the artistic “drums” director.
In 1995, he arranged and lead another afro band called “ORUNMILA”.
Arrived in Paris in 1998, Jorge played all types of drums, particularly religious afro drums like batas and candomblé atabaques.
Until this time, he realized a great number of world tours with best world music artists:
Tupinago, Bebel Gilberto or st Germain, Ben Sidran and others.
He begans to really make his name beginning to perform 3 years ago with Joe Zawinul Syndicate and create a real large drum set for him : something like 40 countries and more than 100 live concerts. In 2004, he was the most acclaimed musician in “Baku Jazz festival” and won the first price.
With Joe Zawinul, he had the chance to share the stage with Herbie Hancock, Ernest Hungly, Mont Alexander, Idrissa Diop, Carlinhos Brown, Angelique Kidjo.and won a solid platform in front of press and public alike.
Key musician with the Syndicate , he toured worldwide performing over 300 shows in few years.
Special Carlos Santana’s guest this year and playing with Clementine (Blue Note) for five years, Jorge was also the new young artist who joined Jovanotti in Italy in his last tour. His performance for the occasion has been celebrated by a brand new DVD “Buon Sangue Tour”, which is in Italy the special one to have.
This year was for Jorge the consacration : between 2 concerts with Joe Zawinul, he managed to play with Celso Fonseca , Carlos Lyra , Monica Passos to join jazz and brazilian music.
His meteoric early carrer permits him to manage everything in the same time between jazz, brazilian music and afro tambors , playing with famous cuban musicians like Javier Campos or Miguel “Puntilla” Rios in Afrekete’s Band.

Né à Rio de Janeiro en 1978, Jorge Bezerra commence les percussions en jouant dans les cérémonies religieuses de tambours candomblé au Brésil.
Il obtient son premier contrat professionnel en 1993 avec le groupe de musique traditionnel "Lemy Ayo" où il dirigeait la section de percussions.
En 1995, il dirige le groupe "Orunmila" dont il réalise les arrangements.
Arrivé à Paris en 1998, Jorge a joué tous les styles de percussions, et se spécialise particulièrement dans les tambours religieux du Brésil et de Cuba dont il est l’un des spécialistes.
Depuis, il effectue plusieurs tournées mondiales avec les artistes de World musique les plus connus de la planète : Tupinago, Bebel Gilberto ou encore St Germain, Ben Sidran.
Il commence à se faire remarquer il y a 3 ans en accompagnant le Joe Zawinul Syndicate pour qui il crée un set de percussions particulier En 2004, il sera avec le Syndicate le musicien le plus acclamé du festival de jazz de Baku (Azerbaidjan) où on lui décernera le prix du meilleur artiste.
Avec Joe Zawinul, il aura la chance de partager la scène avec des artistes de renom international comme Herbie Hancock, Ernest Hungly, Mont Alexander, Idrissa Diop, Carlinhos Brown, Angelique Kidjo. et gagne encore un peu de popularité.
Musicien clé du Syndicate, il aura fait plus de 300 concerts internationaux et de grande qualité en très peu de temps.
Invité spécial de Carlos Santana cette année pour les 40 ans du Montreux Jazz festival, il joue également avec Clementine (blue note), diva française des japonais, depuis 5 ans.
Jovanotti l’invite en Italie en 2005 pour l’accompagner dans sa tournée et à cette occasion un DVD sera réalisé « Buon Sangue Tour » qui reçoit tous les honneurs du public depuis sa sortie.
Cette année a été celle de la consécration : entre 2 concerts avec Joe Zawinul, Jorge réussit a répondre aux invitations de Celso Fonseca , Carlos Lyra , Monica Passos et garde ainsi à côté du Jazz une véritable place dans la musique brésilienne.
Sa jeune carrière météorique lui permet de gérer sa carrière avec le plus grand professionnalisme et du coup de jouer à la fois jazz, brésil et même les tambours yorubas avec les maîtres cubains du genre : Javier Campos or Miguel “Puntilla” Rios au sein du groupe Afrekete.
