A master of sonic space, Jordan Officer is an extraordinary musician and creator. Recognized for an approach that moves back and forth between power and subtlety, the Montreal guitarist and arranger is one of those rare players with a knack for getting straight to the essential. In his hands, the blues, jazz and country blend into an eminently singular and personal language. Whether in the company of singer Susie Arioli or in the framework of his solo projects, this alchemist of swing had made a name for himself over the past decade as one of the most remarkable artisans of the blue note.
In spring 2010, more than ready to take over center stage, Jordan Officer is releasing his first solo album, consisting of his own creations with the exception of a superb reprise of the Duke Ellington classic “Sophisticated Lady.” With this disc, titled simply Jordan Officer, he gives free rain to his virtuosity while remaining true to an approach in which the music must always play the leading role.
