*Well, I decided to make this page because I, myself, am 17 and find that many people my age won't give Judy a chance. My hope is that people, of all ages, can fall in love with her voice, her acting, and all things about her, just as I have, if only they give her a chance. That is why this page is up and I just hope that everyone can enjoy it. And for the record, if the page gets deleted again, I will be putting it up again so only look for it in the music section when, and if, it does get deleted again.* Judy Garland, born Frances Ethel Gumm, was born into a show business family on June 10, 1922 in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. Her parents were small time Vauevillians who moved to Los Angeles in 1927, where they launched Frances and her two older sisters as a singing and dancing trio billed as The Gumm Sisters. It soon became apparent that the youngest child was the star of the act, and by 1935 she had changed her name to Judy Garland and was auditioning as a solo for the major film studios, eventually securing a contract with MGM. In her first notable screen apperance, she sang "Dear Mr. Gable" to a still picture of Clark Gable in the film Broadway Melody of 1938. After that, she made several wonderful pictures with MGM, most notable of wich is probably The Wizard of Oz, and sang many memorable songs such as, "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" "The Trolley Song" "Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas" and "Get Happy" ______________________________________________________________
