Jo Micali

Born as Joseph Micallef, in art known as Jo Micali, Jo kicked off his love for producing music as a young teenager. He began making tracks on his playstation, using very limited sounds and possibilities. Despite these limitations in his novel equipment, the tracks were already rich in content.
Jo's big debut came, back in February 2009 when Paul Van Dyk's own label, Vandit Digital approached him to release his track 'Euphoria' with them. Its title describes the tune perfectly and sets the listeners to an intense state of happiness combined with an overwhelming sense of contentment. 'Euphoria' took Jo to a higher state, the tune as was an epic hit and was played by the highest names in trance music, such as Paul Van Dyk, Armin Van Buuren, Daniel Kandi, Aly & Fila, Sean Tyas and much more. In a matter of days, Jo's name was known all over the world, and his followers increased by many, especially after Paul Van Dyk himself played 'Euphoria' as a mash up with his own track 'On The Other Side' at Trance Energy 2009.
Jo's career was from there on an ongoing success. In November 2009, Jo hit the trance scene with another big release 'Shine On'. The track was released on Unearthed Records and had remixed by C-Systems, Luke Terry and Paul Allen. Just upon promo release the C-Systems vocal mix of the track was featured on Armin Van Buuren's A State of Trance and also selected as Tune of the Week. The tune was also supported by Manuel Le Saux, Solarstone, Ronski Speed and much more. The track was also featured on Armin Van Buuren's A State of Trance Radio Top 15 December 2009 compilation. Immediately after this achievement, Jo Micali released another track with the name of 'Resynthesize' this time on Silent Shore Records, which was once again very much supported by Paul Van Dyk.
In 2010, Jo Micali is still working hard to increase his achievements. For the time being this year, Jo has only seen one release on Colorful Recordings. Jo's epic melodic melancholic trancer "Return of the Gulls', was a perfect preparation for the long hot summer where trance music with its beautiful melodic layers goes hand in hand with the sea and the sun. This summer, Jo also worked on a collaboration with local producers U-Bahn and came out with an outstanding track that has hit the local airwaves and has rapidly gained airplay. 'Beautiful Eyes' has gained Jo a name in the local music scene and he has seen instant high positions in the local radio stations charts. Following up in 2010, watch out for more trance masterpieces coming from the capable hands of this promising talent. Influenced by the likes of Paul Van Dyk, Ferry Corsten, Above & Beyond, Daniel Kandi and so many more trance producers, Jo is constantly evolving unique sounds of his own. One can see a promising future for Jo Micali, who's passion for dance music is very strong. As he says, Music is my energy, it's my way of life.
