“If you fused elements of Billy Joel, Peter Allen, and Johnny Mercer a silhouette begins to emerge.” – Stephen Holden, The New York Times

“One terrific performer, and one terrific show.” – Rex Reed, New York Observer

".young singers like Kelli O'Hara, Maude Maggart, Nellie McKay, Johnny Rodgers and Sutton Foster have established themselves as acts that blend singing and patter into intimate, sophisticated entertainments that can't be found anywhere else." - Stephen Holden, THE NEW YORK TIMES

JOHNNY RODGERS is an internationally-celebrated singer-songwriter, pianist, recording artist, and charismatic state entertainer with grace, boy-next-door charm, and a creamy, dreamy crooner’s voice while infusing fun-loving All-American humor. Johnny dazzles audiences as a seasoned performer of the Great American Songbook with timeless favorites from the likes of Johnny Mercer, Mel Torm, Hoagy Carmichael, and Ray Charles, as well as with his own New American songbook of original songs. Johnny’s songs are a blend of sophisticated, bubbly and romantic pop ballads, (James) Taylor-laced melodies, and sultry jazz all stirred up with his unparalleled piano-passion. Johnny pleases not only with his original songs, but with his boy-next-door charm and creamy, dreamy crooner’s voice.

"With Johnny Rodgers “Poppy Sunshine” at the helm, this charismatic group is about to bring the American popular songbook around the world. Now that’s diplomacy!” - Elizabeth Ahlfors, Bistro Awards. Johnny Rodgers and the Johnny Rodgers Band are creating fans in the U.S. and abroad. The Band will travel to Southeast Asia and the Pacific Islands for the entire month of November on the Rhythm Road American Music Abroad tour sponsored by Jazz at Lincoln Center and U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs. They will share the American Songbook with embassies, local children and musicians in a cross-cultural exchange.

Since November 2009, when Johnny was not touring or writing with the Johnny Rodgers Band, he was simply buried with Sue Fabisch and Lisa Shriver, creator/writer and director/choreographer of Motherhood the Musical while they brought this newly successful Off-Broadway musical to life. Johnny was invited by GFour Productions to take the Music Supervisor, Musical Director, Arranger, Orchestrator helm, knowing his theatre knowledge and experience as an actor, dancer, director, writer and musician would be invaluable and unique. “Fabisch, whose music has been terrifically arranged and orchestrated by Johnny Rodgers, gets skilled, passionate interpretations of the Motherhood songs.” – Christine Dolen, The Miami Herald

Johnny has won the Billboard and The Great American Song Contests and the ASCAP Foundation Award for his songwriting. He has earned the famed Nightlife, Bistro, and MAC Awards for his outstanding performances at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Oak Room at the Algonquin Hotel, The Royal Room at the Colony Hotel Palm Beach, Feinstein’s at Loews Regency, Birdland, Joe’s Pub and other premiere New York City clubs. He has also taken his performances to the Los Angeles Ford Amphitheatre, Arturo Sandoval’s and other jazz clubs around the country, festivals like Festival Miami at the University of Miami and to the 3000 sold-out audience at the historic Deering Estate in Miami. Johnny also performed for Billy Joel and Judy Collins at Lincoln Center’s ASCAP Foundation Awards.

Liza Minnelli discovered Rodgers and brought him on as her pianist and guest performer for her world tours. He debuted on Broadway in the Tony Award-winning Liza’s At The Palace, which now appears on PBS television. Johnny co-wrote the featured song I Would Never Leave You and is included on the show’s DVD release as well as the Grammy-nominated CD.

Johnny’s recorded albums include “Box of Photographs”, “Bound Together” and “Let’s Make A Date.” The Best Of You In Me on “Bound Together” is available in a choral arrangement at Hal Leonard Publishing. In addition to Liza Minnelli, Johnny Rodgers has also performed and recorded with Michael Feinstein, Randy Brecker, Ann Hampton Callaway, Stephen Schwartz and Tom Harrell, among others and is featured on the recordings “The Maury Yeston Songbook”, “Hallways: The Songs of Carol Hall”, and “Jule Styne In Hollywood”.
