Many years before local R&B king Johnal began soothing our ears with his smooth melodic voice, the city of Buffalo had already enjoyed musical history. Singer Rick James, a musical icon of the 1980s that helped define the "punk funk" style of that decade was from the same town of Buffalo.
Born and in Buffalo New York but lived in other city's such as, The New york city, new jersey, And just relocated 2 the "ATL Johnal a.k.a ghost a.k.a the new rick james is a true music artist whose multi-dimensional gifts speaks for their self. The third oldest child in a family of five. We were raised by our mother who brought us up in a strong church background, he says. From his church choir to national competitions, Johnal has been singing since the age of fifteen. He is well known through out his city. His inspiration comes from God, his daughter Asia and music itself, he states.
Johnal grew up in the poverty stricken slums of the infamous Goodyear Avenue. After grinding in one of the hardest neighborhoods in Buffalo he formed a three-man group named Off The Block, all the group members grew up in the same hood. The group expanded to a four-man group, and then went to a 2-man group, which lead to Johnal going solo in 2004.
Following his solo debut Johnal completed his most recent project entitled The Take Over Vol 1 . His first solo album is a blazing R & B mix tape that is scorching the radio waves and creating an impressive street buss throughout western New York. The album sets it tone beginning to end with the much-loved, most played single from an independent label entitled Buffalo. Buffalo is receiving heavy radio rotation on buffalo New Yorks 1 Hip Hop/ R&B radio station 93.7 WBLK. With the release of Johnals first solo album on his own label G.M. Entertainment, the 26-year-old singer proves he has what it takes to compete with the majors. Johanal shows the world his creativity, vocal ability and vast talents as they emerge through the well-lyrically structured album. Johnal has written and performed drops for 93.7 WBLK and 92. Jams in Orlando.
Throughout his quest to become an international R&B King Johnal has had the privilege to share the stage with multi- platinum artist such as 50 Cent, Jagged Edge, T.I, Fat Joe, Donell Jones, Bobby Valentino, Eclipse, dipset, TLC, missy & many more. The accomplishment he is most proud of is his performance at the world famous Apollo Theater, he says. Johnal have participated in numerous competitions all over his native Buffalo, Ohio, Detroit, and New York. He has yet to lose.
Johnal has taken the first steps in a career that have already shown skill and plenty of opportunity. With the release of The Take Over Vol. 1 Johnal does not follow the same R&B trail, he sets a new trend with his effortless R&B/Hip-Hoppish flow. Johnal advises his audience to sit back and watch as he catapult into the forefront of the R&B movement. I have all facets of the R&B game covered, he states. His album showcases a wide verity of skills. He definitely has a platinum sound that brings a crisp but rugged type of flava to the game. Certainly, he will be a part of the citys legacy.
