Hi all,
This page contains access to my music, film, photography, nature art, and zen gardening. You have to scroll down a bit to see the art.
As an actor I've won multiple Sears Festival awards, some at the national level. A highlight of my career was performing "Who's On First?" for the queen in 2003, with performer and musician Ben Caplan.
As a film-maker I've brought in many awards from film festivals, including winning first place in the digital film category at 2006's Toronto Art Festival, for the short film "The Accident."
As a zen gardener my work was showcased in 2009's Absorb Art Show, at Pepperjack Cafe in Hamilton, Ontario.
My poetry and short fiction has been published in several journals, anthologies and magazines (online and off) throughout North America, including several SLA anthologies, WTF Magazine, The University of San Francisco's Switchback Magazine, The Perceptive "I", Cleansheets.com, Inscribed Magazine, and others. As a poet I've had the honour to read my work in league with Canadian greats Zach Wells (Unsettled), Adam Getty (Reconciliation, Repose), and James Deahl (When Rivers Speak). Recently my poetry received a DLD commendation at deviantART.com.
In 2006 and 2007 I hosted the radio program "Saturn's Rings" on 93.3 CFMU, a show dedicated to instrumental music of all varieties, specializing in spacey, ambient music downloaded from MySpace.com. I received many free albums from many talented artists here, and I'll never forget any of you. A future radio show, called "This Binary Life", is in development which will feature a blend of instrumental and a'cappella music, with a focus on read poetry.
As a musician I've had the honour to perform with Ben Caplan (Uvenburd), Annie Shaw (Secret Annie Shaw Songs), Aaron Goldstein, Duncan Links, and others. A highlight of Uvenburd's short, two album career, was opening for the Brooklyn-based folk rock band Grizzly Bear.
On my own I've released two albums in eighteen months, In the House of the Starvation Artists, and Doctors and Detectives. My music has been played on the radio in three countries (Canada, America, UK), and has received warm reviews by many online journals, and fans across the globe.
I'm an avid supporter of graphic literature and every year I publish a list of my favourite comic books, graphic novels, and manga.
Professionally, I'm a reflexologist, library worker, and freelance Feng Shui consultant, based in Ottawa, Ontario where I live with my beautiful girlfriend, the musician Simone Deahl.
