J-WILLIAMS
Joseph Williams was born in Kingston Jamaica and raised in the beautiful Parish of St. Mary in a town called Galina on the north east coastline. J. WILLIAMS was exposed to the 'Performing Arts' at an early age attending various theatrical shows with his Mom Florence Williams. His Father, Paul Williams also made sure that J. WILLIAMS was very active in sports, mainly cricket, and learned quickly how important practice, team work and discipline were to self development. J. WILLIAMS would also participate in inter-school competitions, singing and performing songs of the time and would often get good reviews. In his teenage years he moved to Granville, Montego Bay Jamaica where he learned and saw the struggles of poverty on a daily basis and how to adapt and survive in that situation. He felt the pain and hardship that people faced and really grasped the meaning of Reggae Music, often being the common medium to alleviate the struggle and suffering. He moved back to St. Mary and saw life through different eyes. J. WILLIAMS then Immigrated to Miami, Florida USA to live with his Aunt 'Ezperanza Henry' R.I.P. at age 18. During this period his musical talents were uncovered by the Vengeance Sound, Anthony 'Ras T' and Jahmahwi. He began his journey by recording 'drops and dubs' for local sound systems and DJ's. J. WILLIAMS after being in Miami for a few years met a young aspiring producer Stephen' PURPOSE' Chung who was currently trying to start a movement of new local talent recording on his beats in the hopes of forming a record label 'JAHGYDEYAH RECORDS'. At that time 'Purpose' was already working with artist such as G.COLE, JAHYUT, BONES, SHARATE and others and fortunately J. WILLIAMS fit right into the movement and later recorded over twenty very hot songs with 'Purpose'. J. WILLIAMS and Purpose wrote a song for the well accomplished band 'THIRD WORLD', titled 'RISE UP', also produced by Purpose, on their album 'Black, Gold and Green' that was nominated for a GRAMMY AWARD. J. WILLIAMS is also an active thespian doing Theatre and also writing screen plays and movies. For limited times only you can catch him playing the male lead character on the well renowned play 'Love Knows no Boundary' produced and directed by Nigel Francis. J. WILLIAMS is currently working on his album tentatively titled 'LOVE ROOTS ROCK MOVE' and continues to improve in every aspect. J. WILLIAMS has been performing Live with his band 'WRAPS N KUSH' and doing shows in Jamaica, California, Texas, New Jersey, New York and getting ready to perform in Germany and Australia. J. WILLIAMS has performed on the same stage as Sizzla, Ziggy Marley and the Marley Family, Buju Banton, Barrington Levi, Jill Scott, Diana Ross (Air Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival) and many others. J. WILLIAMS is the New Reggae Sensation that already has an impressive collection of songs, a fusion of 'Roots Rock', Lovers Rock, Hip Hop and Dancehall music adored by the Ladies and Respected by the Gentlemen.
