New York-based J.Marty/ Soundboy LLC is a music producer, songwriter and sound engineer. His aggressive synths, heavy bass and thick Caribbean influence put him on the map in the pop/urban market with smash singles such as She’s Like The Wind by Lumidee/Tony Sunshine and Keep Your Shades on/Sunglasses at Night by Jamaican artist and dance icon Bruckup featuring Shaggy. He has collaborated with the likes of Wyclef Jean and Jerry Wonder, Snoop, Shaggy, Jim Jones, Pitbull, Steven "Lenky" Marsden and Red Cafe, among others.

Growing up in the musically-rich city of St. Louis with a jazz background as a trumpeter, Marty has, from a young age, been attuned to cracking the code to a successful record regardless of genre. Inspired by a chance encounter-turned-friendship with multi-platinum engineer Richard Keller in New York, Marty decided to pursue music professionally at age 18. He cut his teeth for hip-hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs at Bad Boy Records and began engineering for Diddy, Method Man, Black Rob and Mario Winans, to name a few. Keeping his hands on the board and his ear to the streets, Marty spent the next few years sculpting a unique pop and reggae sound that rocked the airwaves with the Billboard-charting record She’s Like The Wind. His other production credits include MF Grimm’s first-ever triple hip-hop album, “American Hunger,” and Lumidee’s sophomore release, “Unexpected,” which Marty engineered and produced, respectively. Additional projects include the theme song for the FIFA World Cup mascot Goalio, three television spots for Ecko unltd., and commercial work for Berlin Cameron United/ Boost Mobile and Wieden + Kennedy/ Nike. He has also worked closely with Marc Ecko on various music projects for the brand’s fashion shows and videogames.

Marty is the founder and owner of the production company, Soundboy LLC, and owns a professional recording studio located in the Marc Ecko building in the Flatiron district of Manhattan. He has produced for artists such as, Jaicko Lawrence (Capitol) and V Factory (Warner). Currently, he is in the studio cutting albums with Bruckup and Tony Sunshine, and executive producing Kristine Elezaj’s debut album.
