JIMI D (reams), aka Christopher Beer, has to date spent most of his life in Graz, Austria, and - thanks to his American mother- Wellfleet, Massachusetts. As a child he sang in his school's choir and studied piano as well as cello before turning his back to classical music, teaching himself to play guitar and beginning to compose his first own songs. These - drawing on his bilingual background - showcase a lively passion for language, pun and rhyme. In his formative period, artists such as Bob Marley and Linton Kwesi Johnson inspired the Austro-American musician and aroused his interest in the off beat. Following studies in psychology and media in Scotland and Vienna, he devoted himself to music, initially as Jimmy D., a band member of the Lower Austrian band Rising Girl, then as the solo-artist Jimi D. In 2007 his debut album "I do what I want " was created in Lee Holness's Roots Kartell Studio. Jimi D's current album, Fisherman's Son (King Kanu / Soulseduction), links his music to the work of his maternal grandfather, a former shipbuilder based on Cape Cod, USA. The different kinds of wood used traditionally by shipbuilders stand for the musical interests and influences, from which his "ship was built." Jimi D. describes his music as a colorful mix of off-beat styles combined with folk, hip hop and rock. "Should I as as a Styrian only sing Styrian folk, as an American only Country? Music is a form of communication available to us all. " Thus, 2009 brought both exciting remixes with Waldeck and Dunkelbunt as well as a breakthrough in the alternative-scene through radio broadcasts on German, Scottish / British stations as well as tracks on surf- and kayakvideos. Currently, Jimi D. is on tour with Accydentz to promote his new album.

Jimi D. ist das Kunstprojekt des Grazer Musikers Christopher Beer, das sich durch Spontanität und Verspieltheit auszeichnet. Seine musikalische Reise begann mit der steirischen Band Rising Girl und führte ihn von Österreich bis nach Polen, Deutschland, Schottland und Italien.
Unterstützt von den Multiinterumentalisten Chris Laber und Toti Denaro verbindet der Grazer mit amerikanischen Wurzeln auf authentische Weise Lyrik und Töne zu einem bunten Klangteppich aus Stimme, Gitarre, Mandoline, Bass und verschiedenen Percussion-Instrumenten.
In seiner Stilwelt trifft Reggae auf Ethno und Worldmusik. Ob bei einem Festival oder intimen Konzertabend, jede/jeder kann sich auf eine sommerliche Reise freuen.

JIMI D (reams), dont le vrai nom est Christopher Beer, a passé juasqu'à maintenant la plupart de sa vie à Graz, en Autriche, et - grâce à sa mère américaine - à Wellfleet, Massachusetts (USA). Enfant, il chante dans la chorale de son école et étudie le piano, ainsi que le violoncelle, avant de tourner le dos à la musique classique, apprenant à jouer de la guitare. Il commence alors à composer ses premières chansons, qui - se fondant sur son expérience bilingue - démontre une passion pour le langage, les jeux de mots et de rimes. Dans sa période de formation, des artistes comme Bob Marley et Linton Kwesi Johnson ont inspiré le musicien austro-américain et ont éveillé son intérêt pour le style off-beat. Après des études de psychologie et de sciences des médias en Ecosse et à Vienne, il décide de se concentrer sur sa musique, d'abord comme Jimmy D., un membre du groupe de Basse-Autriche Rising Girl, puis comme artiste solo Jimi D. En 2007, il réalise son premier album I do what I want au studio Lee Holness's Roots Kartell. Son dernier album, Fisherman's Son (King Kanu / Soulseduction), associe sa musique au travail de son grand-père maternel, un charpentier fabriquant des bateaux basé à Cape Cod, USA. Les différentes sortes de bois traditionnellement utilisés par les constructeurs navals représentent les intérêts et influences musicales, dont son «bateau a été bâti." Jimi D. décrit sa musique comme un mélange coloré de styles off-beat combinés à du folk, du hip-hop et du rock. "Devrais-je comme un habitant de Styrie ne chanter que du folk styrien, ou comme un Américain que de la Country? La musique est une forme de communication disponibles pour nous tous." Aussi, l'année 2009 a été riche pour Jimi D: deux remixes passionnants ont été produits avec Waldeck et Dunkelbunt; il a percé sur la scène alternative à travers des émissions de radios allemandes, écossaises et anglaises et enfin des titres sont disponibles sur Surf et kayakvideos. Actuellement, Jimi D. est en tournée avec Accydentz pour promouvoir son nouvel album.
