THE JIMBEAZY STORYSince the beginning of the Box in 1991, Jimbo has been on the airwaves at 97.9 the Box! He started working a marathon shift with his own overnight show from 3am to 5:30am. He then worked the Morning Show from 5:30 to 10:30am. Overnights, it was anything goes with bits such as "The Rap Off," "The 42 Cent Pyramid, " and "Security Check-ins." He had regular callers overnight - "Lonely Earl" always looking for a date, "Lumpy Pants" was a grotesque bloaded man who always complained about constant gas, "Big Dick Peterman" was the consumate shyster and "Nikki T" won the rap off many a time before she would become part of Madd Hatta's afternoon show. On the morning show, he started as the producer/sports guy for Smokin' and the Bandit. A year later he worked for J.D and T.C. (J.D. Houston and T.C. Bandit). A year later in 1993, He began his tenure with D.C. radio legend Robin Breedon. After Breedon left the Box in 1996, he teamed with then Program Director Robert Scorpio to form the Box Morning Playas. And with the Playas, the Box had their first ever 1 English-Speaking morning show. The show was fueled by constant fun and games such as: The I Love You Game, Match Your Mate, Talk Show Topic Game, The What's Your Sign Game and more. The big hit of Box Morning Playas Morning show was the Birthday Call, a prank call on a unsuspecting victim on their birthday. One of most famous birthday call's, where a young lady actually spoke in tongues, disappeared mysteriously (according to Jimbo). In 2001, Scorpio went to L.A, to be a big time program director and Jimbo joined the Madd Hatta Morning Show. The chemistry of team at the time, Hatta, Jay Mac, Shelley Wade and Jimbo was incredible, but yet there was a bump in the road. Shelley left for the big time airwaves of New York City. Shortly after, Jimbo jumped on what looked like a promising opportunity in Philadelphia. Well, it wasn't promising after all. Jimbo returned to Houston to the strongest box morning show line-up yet. Hatta, Mac, Jimbo and a young star-in-the making found at contest to replace Shelley named Nnete. Since 2003, this lineup has been going strong with games, bits, thought-provoking topics, top talent interviews, and new characters like Bishop Beazy spicing things up. This year top mixer/consumate talker Rob G became a permanent member of the show. Jimbo aka Jimbeazy is happy to have the opportunity to still be a part of the Box after all these years. He really loves working with the Madd Hatta Morning Show. And he really does appreciate all the love from the Box listeners. He says the only real hard part of the job is waking up.
