New record almost done!

I am close to finishing up my new record. For the past year I have been recording a record of 10 full orchestral pieces. In the past, I have typically played all of the instruments, wrote the lyrics and sang on all of my music, but for this record I wanted to get people that could execute my ideas much more precisely. I have a ton of collaborators on this project that I am very very excited about, including:

David Byrne

Craig Wedren- Shudder To Think

Carla Bozulich- Evangelista and Geraldine Fibbers

Mirah

Dawn McCarthy- Faun Fablesand many more to come! I am not sure when or how it will be coming out but I hope to know soon!

Take Care!

Local composer, musician and producer Jherek Bischoff has, for the last several years, built a staggeringly prolific reputation both nationally and internationally as one of Seattle's most indispensable and talented musical artists. He has been a full-time member of The Dead Science since it's inception, served a long tenure as bassist and composer for local experimental musician talent factory Degenerate Art Ensemble, toured in Xiu Xiu and Carla Bozulich's Evangelista, and consistently worked as a player, producer and arranger for Jason Webley, Parenthetical Girls, and Casiotone for the Painfully Alone. His efforts have led to many unique and wildly varied opportunities in his musical life, including numerous grants and residencies, composing for a 45 piece ensemble as part of the Degenerate Art Orchestra concert at the Moore Theater, opening for the Foo Fighters in Hollywood, composing epic video game music, and embarking on countless tours across North America, Europe, and Australia. After years of aiding and abetting so many experimental music luminaries, Jherek has recently shifted greater focus towards his own music, with tours and releases both under his own name (the moody instrumental split album with local songwriter Richard Webb, Under the Sour Trees) and his solo moniker Ribbons (the European-only Royals album).

As part of this new wave of Bischoff solo output, Jherek will be presenting concerts of his compositions—both works from last year's records and several from his next project, a fully orchestral record including arrangements ranging from standard orchestral works to pieces employing 30 glockenspiels and Mexican folk instruments. The concerts will serve as a preview of sorts to Jherek's next solo record: a massively ambitious, years-in-the-making album of meticulously arranged and multi-tracked orchestral music. Featuring a host of Seattle's greatest musicians (as well as avant ringers like Deerhoof's Greg Saunier and violinist Carla Kihlstedt, the record spotlights different guest vocalists on each track—a staggering lineup that including the likes of David Byrne, Mirah, Carla Bozulich, Craig Wedren, and many others.
