Joe Ceballos, p/k/a/ J-EX, was born in East Los Angeles in 1984 to Mexican American parents. His very first musical influence was his father, a great guitarist. He came from a family full of musicians. At an early age, J-Ex would spend hours sitting through his father’s rehearsal sessions soaking in the music. At 13 years old, instead of following the path of drug dealing and gang banging like so many of his friends in the neighborhood did, J-Ex chose an alternate route. It was the first time he heard Hip Hop pioneers Run DMC that unleashed his inspiration to undertake music production. “Run DMC was my first influence in Rap music and I have been hooked ever since”, explain J-Ex. His passion for music led him to a collection of a vast variety of 100,000 records so naturally he began to DJ like many other great producers like him. Other early influences include Dr. Dre, DJ Premiere, and DJ Muggs. “My ultimate goal is to become a successful music producer”, says J-Ex. “This is what my passion is, this is what I do.” He is already on his way. He has had the opportunity to work with many of West Coasts’ finest like Tha Eastsidaz, Xzibit, Omar Cruz, B Real and even Frankie J to name a few. This is just the beginning for J-EX…
