23 Years of Hip-Hop



Hailing from Virginia Beach, but originally from Norfolk, VA, J.Black is changing the face of hip-hop one bar at a time with a distinct new sound and indefinable style. The Virginia-bred artist was known in his neighborhood as "Black"; a nickname that, in conjunction with his first initial, eventually developed into his stage name "J.Black".

Distinguished among other hip-hop artists, especially those signifying the seven-cities/HR metropolitan area, J.Black is a breath of fresh air clearly endowed with a gift of diction and rhyme. His humble temperament and charming disposition, along with his adept ingenuity to master his talent and skill, makes J.Black a rarity and places him in a class all by himself. The up-and-coming artist attributes nearly all of his success thus far to his fans along with praise from the public and local support.

Since his playground days, J.Black knew he would hold a career in music and likewise developed a passion for it. He began writing and working with local producers and gained a more-thorough understanding of the hip-hop culture and the music business in general. His passion-turned-expertise allowed him to work and improve his craft and enabled him to become the ultimate producer dream: talented versatility with the hunger and perseverance to bang out hits like clockwork. J.Black attributes his hard-working nature to his mother, who he claims inspired him the most as a child.

Influenced by the works of Nas, Biggie, Joe Budden and Jay-Z, as well as the likes of Outkast and Big L, J.Black deviated his own sense of style that caters to a wide audience and is deemed "unique and universal".

On his down time away from writing or laying down verses at the studio, he can be found hooping at the gym or at local venues for exposure; innovating new ways and means of getting his music heard.



Due to seamless craftsmanship and cutting-edge delivery that becomes more evident with every hit he makes, J.Black is steadfast in becoming a mainstream artist and household name.
