The' Firestarter' himself. Born in Brooklyn, raised in Long Island (Uniondale/ Hempstead area), this New York bred emcee is truely one to look for or better yet look out for. The product of a Trinidadian father and a Jamaican/Panamainian mother, being the first generation of his family to be born in the United States, he epitomizes the true essence of a 'Firestarter'. No stranger to struggle, this Brooklyn Longislander has been through his share of hardtimes but through it all he maintains his optimistic view on life- "You can't stop the sun from shinin". A rebel in heart 'Jus Blak' embodies what it is to be a emcee he adds "When I rhyme or emcee my objective is to allow the listener to view the world through my eyes, stand in my shoes and feel my pain without having to experience it physically."

"I started emceein' (or playing around with it at least) at the age of '9' influenced by my older brother of 3 years (Ekundayo) and cousin (Kwame). My cousin introduced my brother to the culture who in turn exposed me to the artform. Around the time I was about '13' my brother was down with a clique called the 'Roudy Bunch'. The Roudy Bunch was a Long Island based Hip Hop conglomerate that was comprised of individual groups and solo acts who themselves all lived for the anticipation of competition. Give or take 30 plus emcees coming together at one meeting point (Which at the time was a garage in my backyard called 'The LIUNS DEN') to cipher for hours at a time. Anything went in those ciphers. In its purest form I saw Hip Hop expressed aggressively through battling, storytelling, breakin', beatboxin' etc. It was in those moments where I absorbed and honed my ability as an emcee. See I'm a 80's baby(literally) so i didn't have the luxury of buying music or going to shows or things of that nature. I was a shortie, I was too young to engage in certain things. So for me the only Hip Hop I was exposed to was those unadulterated ciphers that went on in my yard and the music they listened to. Just seein' my O.Gs express themselves articulately with passion and swagga was it for me. Being able to capture a moment in time and put how you feel into rhythm and vibes and relay it to others and they feel it , was a all time high for me. It wasn't long before I became indoctrinated into the camp. Me being the baby of the bunch I soaked it all up and put it together with my own twist on things". DIE A MARTYR YOU A FIRESTARTER!!!!
