26/06/2008: We would firstly like to thank you all for love and support over the last 18 months. The Jay Scott Project has now come to an end. We have all had a great experience playing together and really enjoyed meeting some of you on our Take That tour and elsewhere.

I am now going to focus on song writing. Simon, John & Ben are writing and playing music together and with other artists.

Once again, thank you for your lovely words and comments,

Jay

Jay Scott grew up in Kent in a musical family. Both grandfathers played instruments; Alan, the piano, and John, the accordion and bag pipes. Inspired by the two he started playing the piano at the age of four and although he couldn’t read music, he was able to play anything he heard by ear.

Jay spent some time in hospital after suffering a severely broken nose in a Thai boxing spa and it was here that he taught himself to play the guitar. Due to the extent of his injury he had to spend most of his time lying flat. It was in this way that he learnt his unique style of lap steel playing.

Through mutual friends Jay met Simon, a classically trained Flamenco guitarist. They started playing together and before long Simon had recruited two of his other friends, Ben and John, to form the Jay Scott Project.

After almost a year of playing some of London's premiere venues such as Ronnie Scott’s and The Spitz, The Jay Scott Project were chosen to support Take That on their Beautiful World tour in November and December 2007, playing The NEC in Birmingham, O2 Arena in London, Glasgow's SECC and the MEN Arena in Manchester. Check out the video below of us playing in London.

One of Jay’s loves is poetry, which can be heard in his lyrics as they rise above his captivating hooks and melodies. His music lingers and instantly you lose yourself in an imaginary world of love, passion and fun. Never enough, you roar for more before his deep voice draws you in again.
