Jason began playing Alto and Soprano saxophones with the Jazz Warriors at 16, making him the youngest ever member of this important powerhouse Big Band.

Since then, a member of Quite Sane, several of veteran South African drummer, Louis Moholo's groups, Afro Blok, Mano Ventura's Noh Ground, Phil Robson 8tet, Nikki Yoeh's Infinitum+ and his own band, the multi award winning, j-life. Yarde's skills cover a wide world of music having performed with Dennis Brown, Gregory Issacs, Alton Ellis, SuperBlue, Shadow to the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra & Britten Sinfonia, and the big bands of McCoy Tyner, Roy Ayers, Cleveland Watkiss, Jean Toussaint, Sam Rivers, Hermeto Pascoal, Andrew Hill, Hugh Masekela/Jazz Jamaica Allstars and Manu Dibango, arranging and directing the later 2 projects for the Barbican Centre. His was the pivotal role in "Urban Classic", a project bringing together the BBC Concert Orchestra under Charles Hazelwood alongside producer DaVinChe, MC's Tor, Bruza, Purple, Pase, beatboxer Faith SFX & Cellist Matthew Barley. The first collaboration of BBCRadio3, 1Xtra, Serious & BiggaFish.

He is a popular Composer/MD among many forward-looking Dance companies such as Phoenix, JazzXchange, BOP & numerous Jonzi-D projects. He's also worked a number of shortfilm soundtracks for director Alison Murray for the BBC & Ch4. Most recently his playing and arranging can be heard live and on albums from Julie Dexter, Keziah Jones, Two Banks Of Four, Bembe Segue, Terri Walker & Ty.



As a producer he's been responsible for a number of albums in Dune records catalogue including Jazz Jamaica Allstars'-Massive, Juliet Roberts'-Beneath the Surface and the latest releases form fellow saxophonists and MOBO and Mercury Award nominated artists Soweto Kinch and Denys Baptiste.

He has performed and giving workshops around the world from South Africa to Sarajevo taking in India, Mexico, Peru, Ghana, Senegal, Nepal, Canada, Australia, China and the Atlanta Olympics.



He will soon be recording his own trio 'WAH!' and a new project; Acoutastic Bombastic commissioned for the Cheltenham Jazz festival 2005. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Yes Good Folk!
