Most Recently, Ms. Janis has taken her love and passion of working with children, teaching music, and singing to thousands of children every month, and produced her debut album, Ms. Janis’ Music 4 me! Volume1, “Moving Bodies, and Inspiring Hearts”. Ms. Janis has been teaching creative movement, music, yoga, and gymnastics to children in the NYC area for the past 8 years. In the past 5 years, she has worked closely with her mentor, Monica Levy owner of Leapsmart (A creative Movement Program for children ages 2 to 8). While developing her own music program along with teaching music at the Plymouth Day Camp summer program in Brooklyn Heights for the past two years, Ms. Janis was able to complete an album of the songs she had created while working with her students. Janis’ mission is to inspire children to move their bodies creatively, sing their hearts out bravely, have confidence while doing it, and a positive attitude. Her goal is to teach children about the world around them. The songs in Ms. Janis’ debut album are appropriate for children between the ages of 2 and 8 years old. The songs teach children motor skills, their colors, about different animals, and about being proud of who they are, and the things that make them special. The music is upbeat, educational, and fun. Ms. Janis made this music intending for the parents to enjoy it just as much as their children. A manual to assist parents and teachers in using different movement skills while using the songs in this album is being completed at this moment along with an instrumental version of Volume 1, and will be available for purchase online at www.msjanis.com in October 2009. Ms. Janis is also in the process of working on her next album, Ms. Janis’ Music 4 me! Volume 2, “Tumbling Fun!”
Ms. Janis is based in NYC, and has been teaching in NYC for 8 years. She has her BFA from Howard University, and her MFA from Rutgers University.
