THE TEXTBOOK
TMK is the ongoing collaborative project involving sonic mongers Jd & Eve LaCroix and a very close bunch of talented musicians that led to a over 15 years activity, reaching its highs in the actual four
members line up.
Started as a progressive/avant-garde extreme metal phenomenon, the Textbook of Modern Karate (formerly known as Thee Maldoror Kollective) evolved into a multi-dimensional experience and very much a statement
rather than just a musical journey.
Combining creative sampling with noir & crime jazz inputs, post-industrial structures & psychedelica, metal spikes & blues adagios, classical interferences with ambient scenarios, the TMK constantly work in
progress attitude has become a critical acclaimed radical reality intended to shift amongst cultural paradigms and musical languages.
THE COLLECTIVE
The collective actually collaborated with:
Nordvargr
Mick Harris
CTRLer
Eraldo Bernocchi
CDataKill
Z’EV
Eurosatan 3000
Mikrokilla
Jeye
Bad Sector
Ensoph
Macelleria Mobile di Mezzanotte
Beside of its studio albums activity, the Textbook of Modern Karate worked on projects as film & events scoring, releasing part of the official soundtrack for the post-modern sci-fi dystopia “Proxima”
directed by talented borderline moviemaker Carlos Atanes, and exploring the interactive field among sound/theatre/fashion in the Camoufflage Deco event, presented at the Fashion Week in Milan in 2007.
TO KILL THE MONARCH
A joyful interpretation by Father Marco Menon:
“To T/M/K lying still is absolute evil. Their conceptual and lyrical path is the final testimony that Western culture's column, the identity principle, is a curse, an illusion, a wall to break down. Masks -
as on stage - are the true subjects, and Blavatskij, Crowley, Gibson, Burroughs, Jewish mystics and God only knows, are the simulacra embodied by Kollective's Spirit from time to time. What they seem to mean
since almost 16 years, by their creatures voice, is "disguise yourselves, become one with the world!".
We must become steam on the horizon to be actually free. Identity is a tombstone someone put upon us. Ubiquity is the only centrifugal force which give us room in Heaven: this is T/M/K's artistic and
existential faith.
Espousing the paradygm shift means celebrating the union of Dyonisus and Apollo, regaining fragments of mystical speculation into the flesh of fevered and devilish New Orleans' junkies, affirming joyfully
our lives' shattering and dissolution.
T/M/K is the embodiment of those living artists raised by William Burroughs to rape Louvre Museum: the fiendish power of their lyrics breaks up the chains that hold us, diagnoses the morbidity of our numb
culture that make us foreseeable, sanctioned, old.
T/M/K is the true nomadic thought.”
You’re saying it sounds like a tribute, we’re conscious, but we’ve really never seen a band site telling what a fucking shitty band you’re reading about, of course.
BLOODLINES
Actually, TMK cares about releasing fine polyglot music to the glory of the Great Agent of the Universe, accomplishing the goal by dividing the identity into separated outbursts down in cyberspace. Beside
the Textbook, you can connect with .E., solo project of Miss LaCroix (see top list)
