Jahna Sebastian real name Zhanna Andrianova is a multi-talented singer/actor/songwriter/producer/engineer based in Croydon, Surrey. she started her career as an artist in Russia as a reggae singer - in 2004 at the age of 18, she immediately took the spot of the "Princess of Russian Reggae", rocking the stage at numerous venues and festivals of up to 15 000 people, performing on stage together with artists like Mad Professor, Uwe Bunton, Jah Meek etc. Jahna was singing an writing lyrics for bands like "Muzungu" (reggae), "Jah Soldiers"(reggae/hip hop) and "Clean Tone" (p-funk). As an opposition to ever growing neo-nazi movement and also being personally a subject to attempted threats and attacks of racists in Russia, Jahna formed reggae/hip hop band "Jah Soldiers" in autumn 2005. "Jah Soldiers" would perform songs by Jahna Sebastian with antifascist message like "How Come". In February 2006 bass-guitarist and drummer of "Jah Soldiers" were attacked by about 35 neo-nazi fascists on their way to Bob Marley Festival in Moscow half an hour before they were supposed to go on stage. This resulted in bass-guitarist suffering from serious head injuries and hospitalization. The police was reluctant in chasing the offenders and none of them have ever been jailed. Jahna cancelled all the shows by "Jah Soldiers" and even her birthday party that year was held at a secret location where herself and her fellow artists like "Jah Division" performed. Jahna has also been featured on the first ever reggae dancehall radio program in Russia with members of DaBudz. "Leave It Up" – album recorded at that time with "Muzungu" was officially released on CD to major record stores in Russia in 2009 through Navigator Records. She moved to London in 2006 as it started to get more dangerous for her as a mixed-race artist with social themes to live and perform in Russia. Jahna has been exposed to music from very young age, from singing in a choir while attending prestigious kindergarten of Bolshoy Theatre, to starting to play her first instrument at the age of 8 - she joined children's orchestra which played at major concert halls in Russia. Playing domra (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Domrain the orchestra was the first step to learning about music production as it gave her an insight on how different instruments can play together. She learned to play piano when she enrolled into Russian Academy of Music at the age of 16. Her first paid job was at the age of 13 in a music video by Russian rock star Anatoliy Krupnov and at that time she gave her first interview on MTV Russia while on set. Activity since moving to London: In summer 2006 Jahna packed her suitcase and flew to London completely by herself. She had yet to find a job and start her music career all over again. While attending Point-Blank College taking "Music Production" course she was working at first music technology shop "Turnkey" in London, where she eventually bought her studio equipment from. As in her own words, Jahna had to learn to be more humble, because she came to a place where nobody knew about her and had to build her career in UK from scratch because it was a different scene. She started performing and doing session vocals at various studios. However in August 2007 she got pregnant with her first child and a few months later detained by mistake by Home Office, when her case was wrongfully considered. After spending two months in Yarl's Wood detention centre she was finally released in Januray 2008 after her asylum case was ordered to be-reconsidered by High Court. During the time at detention centre Jahna realized a lot about her path and when she was released she started writing songs about freedom, which eventually resulted in her debut solo album "Emancipation EP". After more than a year of fighting the case through appeals in court while being restrained from working she was finally granted refugee status in the UK on the grounds of racisist discrimination she faced in Russia. In December 2009 Jahna's debut album "Emancipation" has been released on iTunes. Jahna has been recording Russian rapper Oxxxymiron since 2008 in her studio. In 2011 Oxxxymiron's single and music video "Russky Cockney" featuring Jahna's vocals has been released and creatied a lot of buzz in Russian rap scene. The single also includes Dubstep remix of Oxxxymiron's Grime track "Moi Mentalitet" produced by Jahna Sebastian. Both songs including another track "Vostochniy Mordor" by Oxxxymiron also recorded by Jahna Sebastian are the first grime/dubstps tunes Russian to have made such an impact with video "Russky Cockney" scording 33 000 views on youtube in the first day of it's release. Jahna has performed at various venues in London, from London Peace Concert on Trafalgar Square and "Cargo" to jungle raves and hip hop parties some of which he has organized herself. Being a highly energetic performer the stage and a natural raver, she goes into the studio and spends long hours on her Mac with Logic and Pro Tools, she is the classic example of when "beauty and brains" do come together. She is also an aspiring actress and she is using this approach in her music and videos. Jahna produces for various artists and her sound is distinctive but very versatile. Jahna is also an actor who has been trained in Russia at Solveig and took up private tuition. In spring 2011 Jahna played main charactor in short film "Nasheeli" that explores a dramatic situation in a life of a young Muslim girl in London who is torn emotionally by her own choices and shows a controversial fight of good and bad sides within the same person. She has also filmed two other short films during period. "She has been cast as a lead in a musical with anti-fascist theme and has worked on various commercials and films including Harry Potter in the UK.
