--- Jade Day (his given name) was raised in a small town on the high plains of Colorado. His family of working musicians nurtured his inborn love and propensity for the art. In college, Jade studied philosophy and theater while fronting the alternative rock band Penysol. After two solid years of playing shows in the Denver area, he uprooted to Austin, Texas in 2003 to find what has become his unique sound: a sound that is steadily amassing an army of true believers. --

After landing in Austin, Jade immediately jumped into the scene by playing solo shows and recording two intimate acoustic albums: In Absence or Abuse and The Taste which laid the foundation for a loyal local following. With this new support, Jade sought to form a group that would fully convey his artistic vision. The result was "Chimera". Comparisons to such highly regarded artists as Jeff Buckley and Thom Yorke (Austin Chronicle 9/04, Village Voice 8/05) were made in response to Jade’s effortless range of delicate falsetto escalating into powerful wails behind a landscape of sometimes haunting melodies. --

Returning to the virtues of acoustic music, Jade's latest album, "Of Waking." emphasizes the direct relationship between voice and guitar. Jade's greatest asset, his distinctive dynamic tenor, is out front and center on this lighter, more concise album. Produced and engineered by Stephen Orsak (Suzanna Choffel), the album is both sparse and ornate at times, utilizing folk and chamber instruments such as mandolin, glockenspiel, double bass, and strings to create a timeless sound.

Jade continiues to generate even more interest from fans and the industry by showcasing at top festivals as SxSW (Austin), NxNE (Toronto), and the International Folk Alliance Conference. In between tours, Jade continues to write, record, and experiment with new players and concepts.

His latest endeavor is The Echo Vine-

A powerhouse Alt-Trio that marries the ethereal with the dirt of the earth.
