JACOB LOVE. Born and raised on the south side of Chicago. The middle child of three boys, I got my start in music at the late age of 13. It wasn't until my freshmen year in high school, when I decided music was my calling. It was the only thing I knew I truly loved to do. High school, it would seem, could not have come at a better time. It was there, when I would find one of the most influential and important people of my musical experience thus far. Beside a host of great vocalist within the school choir, in which I had joined, the choir director mentored me, not just vocally, but instrumentally as well. He taught me how to control my voice during school, after school he taught me how to play the piano. From there I grew as an Artist and as an over all individual. My new found knowledge of music help me open my venues to much more then just urban music, but classical music as well. This helped me understand and appreciate other genres of music. I did not get my start in the church, nor were my family big on music. So, before High school, I had no musical influences at all. This can be a good or bad thing. Why? I believe the artist I've become today has a broader point of view of what's good music and what's fake music. The fact I'm able to create music in the manor I do, without the deep musical past and roots is proof that its just something in me or something big, working through me. On the other hand, without the roots and the musical history, there are gaps and walls that I come across on a daily basis. For instance, I would not know who "Ready For the World" would be if it was not for Kanye West and Jamie Foxx. Sad, I know, but I'm still working hard at it. During high school, I joined a group. Together, we form a four man vocal group that showed great skill and promise. Before I graduated, my group and I got our first experience with an independent record label. After 3 months and a complete member change of the group, I left the label with nothing to show for my time there but a single that was poorly vocalized and engineered. I later re-joined with the best members of the group, and we went on as a strong presence at ever talent show case we entered. Which I find is more important then just winning, but the impact we made on a generally bias crowd. We, as a trio, would perform all over the state of IL. Winning and losing some here and there. While apart, the group honing my skills as a piano composer, I would discover my ability to write. This would prove useful for times to come. After Five years of ups and downs, and break ups, I parted ways with the group to start my solo career. I then joined another indy label, where my writing would be put to the test. I was the writer for the labels premier artist. It was, while apart of that label, where I would truly understand my potential and start believing I can compete against other artist like me. This label, just like the last, promised me a demo or at least a single on a compilation CD. But the label lacked professionalism and loyalty to the artist. After a year long of constant rehearsals and an even more consistent decline in productivity, I was yet faced with the compelling decision to leave. At this point in time, all I cared about was getting my demo done. This brings me to present times. Now I live in Atlanta, and since day one, things have been going great. I got at least ten songs recorded and a great team of people who support me and each other. I've gone through 10 yrs of my life waiting for a hand out and waiting for someone with a deal to discover me. But no more. Now I'm producing my own tracks and working hard at trying to cut out as many middle men as possible. So when the time comes I won't be wait for some with a deal, I'll be the deal. So, with the right company, and with the right Ideals, they'll see how beneficial I'll be for this music industry.
