Biography

Maria Ivelisse (Miss Ivelisse) was born on March 25th in Humacao, Puerto Rico. At the age of 8 her family moved to the Bronx and it was then that at the childish music concerts in school, teachers noticed her strong voice and always made her the lead in all events. She owes her vocal talent to her mother who sings for the Lord and great part of her family because of their musical talent. It wasn't rare she inherited the talent because one of her sisters dominates seven instruments while another is a vocalist as well.

In 1987, her parents separated and she moved with her mother and sister to Bridgeport, CT. When she entered high school, she became even more involved in music and became part of the school band where she played the flute. She was also a drummer at her church but her real passion in music was that of being a singer and on her sophomore year in high school, she became part of the school choir. The school choir made a lot of presentations which helped her gain confidence to sing in front of people. She was part of all school concerts in which she showed talent in singing and dancing. In December of 1999 Ive auditioned for "Amateur Night" at the world famous Apollo Theater where stars like, Billie Holiday, James Brown, Ben E. King, The Isley Brothers, Luther Vandross, Michael Jackson, Fat Joe, and Lauryn Hill had their beginnings. She was chosen to participate in April of 2000 where she interpreted "Hold On" by En Vogue. She made quite an impression because the song is originally interpreted by a quartet and begins in acapella but personal problems at the time did now allow her to exceed from that point. Ive was also part of a local band that played, merengue, salsa, and bachata at local clubs and restaurants.

In March of 2005 with a few connections, Ive went to the Dominican Republic to record her first demo. She lived for a month what Dominicans live in their country and felt blessed to have the opportunity to fulfill one of her dreams and record. The incredible talent in the country inspired her even more to take advantage of the opportunity and work hard to achieve her goals. It has been non-stop since. Ive has opened up shows for great latin artists such as: Ramon Orlando from the Dominican Republic, Grupo Kazzabe from Honduras, Puerto Rican Power from Puerto Rico, Ismael Miranda from Puerto Rico, Los Toros Band from Dominican Republic and many more. Ive has also had the opportunity to entertain different types of crowds from young to mature in Latin, Hip Hop, and Reggae styles.

Ive has traveled throughout Dominican Republic, Pennsylvania, New York City, New Jersey, Connecticut, Florida and Massachusetts where she has been part of many night club shows and festivals. Today she is ready take it even further and reach her goals of becoming a world known artist for her vocal strenght, style, and most of all talent.
