There's something about Isa Alfonso's voluminous voice that speaks of wisdom beyond her young years. The poetic Cuban troubadour put in a lot of practice as a backup vocalist for cats like folk-rocker Roberto Poveda before she mustered up the courage to go sola. It was worth the wait. Now, with a few major performances at events such as the Women's Festival and a brand-spanking-new-PhD in Cuban literature under her belt, Isa's got all the elements she needs to make audiences swoon with her soulful crooning of the heart and mind.
