Indica Records

Founded in 1997 by legendary Montreal indie-rockers, GrimSkunk, when they

suddenly found themselves without a distributor, Indica Records was started

with $2000; a grassroots, do-it-yourself approach; and an overriding belief

in 'artist first' vision.

Armed with the mandate of supporting independent releases for great touring bands, lacking label support in Canada, Indica has since grown by leaps and bounds and has expanded its repertoire to encompass a variety of genres beyond the rock/punk/alternative music on which the label was founded, including folk, pop, indie, world and electro/rock.



The company's vision has not waivered, however. We find artists with a great attitude, songwriting and originality. What we put out has to be special, genuine, and capable of moving people. Our vision is simple: we are fans first.

Créé en 1997 par le légendaire groupe d'indie-rock Grimskunk, Indica Records a été lancé avec 2000$, une approche résolument Do-it-Yourself et une volonté inébranlable de faire passer ses artistes avant toute autre chose!



Décidé a soutenir des groupes de scène manquant du soutien d'un label au Canada, Indica a vu son catalogue s'élargir avec les années, et intègre aujourd'hui un large éventail de styles du folk a la pop, en passant par les musiques du monde et l'électro, ou encore le slam et la chanson.



La vision d'Indica n'en est pas pour autant altérée. Nous poussons des artistes qui dégagent quelque chose d'unique dans leur présence et leur écriture, et dont l'authenticité émeut le public. Notre démarche est simple: nous sommes des fans avant tout.
