----------------------------------------------- A Five piece from Santa Cruz, California, Imperium plays a unique style of metal combining the intensity of thrash metal with the metal notes and melodies of power metal and melodic death metal. In 2004 the band was originated under the name "Hellion" out of Jeff's (Beef Jerfree's) recording studio. Along with Guitarist Luke Hertzler and Vocalist/Drummer Conner Bruce the three wrote, produced and recorded rough demos of some of the music they have today. For months the band was just a recording act due to lack of equipment and members to fill in for a live show until later that year they met bassist Ronny Greer. Many frontmen came and went until the decision came to make Conner full-time front-man. A new drummer was needed in order for this to happen. Ronny Greer's friend Cori Gregg filled the spot until the band disbanded from lack of musical direction. Around this time the band changed it's name from "Hellion" to "Imperium."

The band went on a hiatus until July of 2007 when a new band was forming with the last line-up but a different front-man. The band had no intentions of bringing back Imperium for any shows as they had goals to make a completely different band. However luck had it and a spot for San Jose's Metalfest was open. The new band was not ready and the suggestion came to have a one-time Imperium reunion show as all the members knew the songs. Imperium played the Metalfest and the response caught the eye of San Jose locals Pitch Black Records. The interest from the record label sparked a full-on Imperium reunion and the band was now back on the scene. Around this time a new, and current, front-man Brett Costa was introduced to the band giving a more chilling and metal sound. Problems with members Ronny Greer and Cori Gregg also aroused and a tough, but needed decision was made to find replacements. Ex-drummer Conner Bruce was soon returning to California and was more than willing to re-join the band. Luke's brother and bassist Mark Hertzler made an easy fix to the final missing piece.

Now with a complete and final line-up Imperium is posed to create their niche in the metal community
