Imperial Vengeance is a British extreme metal act formed in 2007 by C. Edward Alexander (Vocals, Guitars and Orchestration) and David Bryan (Bass, Lyrics) originally in an attempt to explore ideas and material firmly rooted in the glory days of the British Empire and presenting a wide range of subjects influenced by its' colourful social and military histories, theatre, literature and mythologies.
After self-releasing a 4 track EP entitled "Death, August and Royal", 2008 saw the band inking a deal with legendary UK label Candlelight Records and recording their debut album: "At The Going Down Of The Sun". Containing ten tracks of what the duo referred to as "Dark Aristocratic Metal" and released in the July of 2009, the album featured spoken word from WW1 veteran Harry Patch, and attracted considerable attention and very positive reviews internationally.
With a video for the track "6th Airborne Division" revealing a live line up consisting of guitarists James Murray and Elle Torry with drummer James Last completing the unit; the band hit the UK stages, including an acclaimed set at The NEC Hellfire Festival on Remembrance Sunday to a crowd of Union Flag waving fans. Following the release of an EP in in which they covered the classic Madness song "Night Boat To Cairo", with a suitably eccentric video to accompany the track; the band signed a new deal with the Transcend Music Group and got out on the road supporting Sabbat, issuing a DVD single to coincide with the live dates.
2011 sees the unveiling of their second full length release "Black Heart Of Empire"- with the gentlemen retreating from the horrors of war that dominated their debut; and raising the curtain on ten new absinthe-soaked compositions, played -for the most part- against the sinister backdrop of 19th Century London.
The duo describe the new work as "Ten dastardly tales of intrigue, phantasm and Derring-do" and beginning with a four part song cycle entitled "The Gaslight Aria", the album proceeds through a collection of narratives that present a singularly dark vision. The resulting journey is a breathtakingly complex opiated haze of inspired guitar riffage and dramatic orchestration, awash with neo-Victorian aesthetics.

The disc will be released with a 42-page "Penny Dreadful" style booklet, which amongst the assorted simulacra and ephemera contains extracts of the orchestral score, photo galleries, a Victorian horror story and extensive insight into the composition behind the album.
Proudly bearing the Union Flag for British metal, Imperial Vengeance will be announcing live appearances soon!
