The genesis of Imperial began in 2003 in Orlando, Florida. Originally named The Red Letter, vocalists Dale Dupree and Brandon Pangle, along with guitarist Josh Lightfoot, assembled the band and began playing regularly and touring throughout the United States. The band soon gained the attention of Pluto Records, and with a record deal in hand, decided to change their name to avoid confusion with other similarly named bands. Imperial was officially born.

Imperial's debut came in the form of This Grave Is My Poem, an EP produced by legendary hardcore and metal producer Jeremy Staska (Marilyn Manson, Poison The Well). Released in early 2005, the album featured fan favorite tracks "Washed Upon A Nameless Shore" and "In Ashes I Leave". It proved popular with crowds across the country and allowed the band to continue touring throughout 2005.

The next year saw some member changes between tours, but the trio of original founders remained the same. Writing for their next album was completed in the spring of 2006. Tracking was completed in the band's own home studio before getting in the hands of mixer Daniel Castleman (As I Lay Dying, Winds of Plague) for a final product that exceeded all expectations.

We Sail At Dawn was released on September 26, 2006 by Pluto Records in conjunction with the label's new partnership with Warner Music Group's East West Records. Fueled by solid reviews and airplay on metal and college radio stations across the country, the band reached a wide audience and continued to tour as much as possible.

The band spent most of the following years touring and in early 2009 began working on their next release. In the fall, the band previewed a new song, "Shadows and Dust", on their MySpace page to give fans a taste of the new Imperial.

Imperial has come a long way in their history and plan to take 2010 by storm with a new lineup being led by founding members - vocalist's Dupree and Pangle and guitarist Lightfoot.

The next new release, Taken From The Bones Of The Sea, will be an EP that is focused on the origins of fictional and modern day villains which will be the start of a string of albums focused on the life and times of these characters. Taken From The Bones Of The Sea will be released in the spring of 2010.
