ILL-J

I am here to promote my 2nd album, entitled "Logic For Reason". For those who are unfamiliar, my name is RJ Seneres. The name "ILL J" was tagged by folks in my neighborhood back when I lived in the States coz they misheard my name as such instead of RJ. I stuck with it eversince. I've been a follower of the hip hop culture eversince highschool and I brought the lifestyle with me even when I got back to the Philippines in 96 to continue my studies. Coincidently, I met an equally passionate hip hop dude during my first year in college. His name is Ryan Ventura a.k.a Slimm. We became partners and started to spit rhymes together. Thereafter, we decided to make some demos using cassette tapes. We started to make some noise in our school until one fine day, one of our classmates who lives in Sun Valley Subdivision in Paranaque City, Metro Manila told us about some hip hop folks up there were doing the same thing we were doing. We met them and they were Joseph Papa a.k.a. Puffa Joe and Ryan Armamento a.k.a. Juss Rye. Together, they were in the process of forming a group called the Sun Valley Crew with DJ MOD of Mastaplann as their main producer and manager. We linked up, join the group and the birth of the Sun Valley Crew or SVC officially began. Our demos caught the ear of Universal Records and through God's blessings, we were signed and eventually came out with our first self titled album back in 97. My group started to make some noise in the charts and all over the nation courtesy of the support the label gave us. We had an opportunity to make a second album in late 98. Thereafter, our contract expired. Entering the Indie world was a whole different chapter. With the help of our fellow musicians such as Raymund Marasigan of the Eraser Heads and the Mastaplann, we were able to pick ourselves up to make a self produced third album called "Its All Natural" which was released in 2005. The album made a bit of noise by winning an award in the 1st Annual Hip Hop Awards as the Best Independent Group. After this third album, the group decided to do our own thing for a while. For this reason, I got to make my first album entitled "The Journey" which was released independently in 2006. This first solo album made a bit of noise by its single (First Wifey) winning "Hip Hop Track of the Year" in the 3rd Annual Hip Hop Awards. In the process, I went back to the lab to make this new album "Logic For Reason". This album is now available in selected record bars all over Metro Manila. Throughout this whole process, my manager Jigger, Founder and CEO of Lockeddown Records, was my main backbone in moving forward. My record label Lockeddown Entertainment, is now official.
