This was set up just so people could have her music on their pages. It is just a fan site, if anything. "Islaja is Merja Kokkonen, a young visual artist and musician living and working in Helsinki, Finland. Her debut album Meritie gained praise in international music media such as The Wire, Dusted Magazine and WFMU. The follow up release Palaa Aurinkoon has caused even more excitement and has created quite a stir. Islaja records her music at home using a rainbow of instruments to accompany her personal vocal delivery sang in Finnish. Her first solo show was at Femmes Festival in Belgium spring 2005. She has toured the USA as Islaja, Europe as a member of Avarus and the UK with Hertta Lussu Ässä, a free folk super trio with Lau Nau and Kuupuu."
