From Los Angeles, THE IDYLLISTS are the sound of your favorite old pop records. Taking hints from the likes of The Kinks, Buddy Holly, Elvis and Morrissey, The Idyllists’ catchy choruses, intricate bass lines, bright guitars and jaunty keys carve out a niche in contemporary music all to their own. Led by the crooning vocals of British troubadour Ian Webber, along with his American bandmates, The Idyllists put a modern twist on 60’s Britpop mixed with vintage Americana.
Released in Feb 2009, the debut album from The Idyllists, entitled THE LONG HOURS BETWEEN SUNSET & MORNING, was produced by the band and David Cobb (Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Nico Vega) and recorded in LA with engineer Greg Gordon (Oasis, Hot Hot Heat, The Ting Tings, Hank Williams III) and Mark Rains (Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Shooter Jennings). The introductory singles “You’re Gonna Break My Heart Someday”, “Great Love Story” and “I think It’s Going To Rain” received airplay on independent and rock radio in cities across the USA, including the KROQ tastemaker Rodney Bingenheimer’s show Rodney On The Rock and Indie 103.1.
One year later in Feb 2010, The Idyllists released their sophomore album, entitled THE IDYLLISTS, which was produced by the band and Jeffrey Saenz (Death On Wednesday, The Shys, Sangre Sangre) and recorded with the help of Mark Rains.
The band has shared stages with the likes of the Subways, the Helio Sequence, the Cinematics, IAMX, Andy Rourke of the Smiths, Boz Boorer (Morrissey) the New York Dolls, and have enjoyed successful residencies at The Hotel Cafe and Viper Room in LA.
